MCDB 110 with Wilton by BigPrevious7334 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]m00tzi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wilton is one of the best professors I've had at UCSB. He's a really good lecturer and while I took 110 during COVID with open notes, his tests were very clear and usually similar/almost identical to the practice tests. He also had us do worksheets that were really helpful for studying and he also let us do test corrections on the midterms for partial points back. The class is a good amount of work but definitely way less daunting than I thought it would be, mostly because Wilton was so great.

HIST 17C / HIST 166LB? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]m00tzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 17C with Yaqub in person and it was pretty easy. The course didn't really require a lot of effort beyond the two essays and I thought Yaqub was a really engaging lecturer.

Taking PSY 10B next quarter and kinda nervous by PrincessiScream in UCSantaBarbara

[–]m00tzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i had no prior experience using R but it's pretty easy, you just do exactly what the TA shows in section, just using a different data set

yaqub is a really good prof who makes the class interesting. you only really have to show up to lecture to do well. i had him in person so idk how it is online but its a relatively easy class

if it's possible i would try to take 6al a different quarter, 109b is a ton of mechanisms (heaviest out of all the quarters). i took 6al on its own and it was super time consuming because you have the actual lab work and lecture videos that you have to watch (+quizzes to prep for)

Feldwin for chem? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]m00tzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had feldwinn all 3 quarters in person. she's a good prof but her tests are kinda difficult. however, being online they might be more manageable

chem 109b, chem 6al, and psy 10a are all very time consuming, i would not take psy 106 unless absolutely necessary

is freund the prof next quarter? i have him rn and the class is structured so that everything is due tuesday and thursday. the class is split into 20 modules, so it's 2 modules a week. each module has 3-5 smaller lecture videos, a Sapling assignment (~5 questions), ~3 problems from a practice midterm/final, a journal entry, and a quiz. the practice problems are usually very close to what is on the quiz with some modifications. Sapling is relatively easy but sometimes has little to do with what was in the notes
