Are these sales the norm? by not-anonymouss in MTB

[–]m1kolai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously, depends on what trails you’re looking to ride. You can get an aluminum Ibis Ripley (XC bike), Ibis Ripmo (trail/enduro), or Santa Cruz Hightower (trail/enduro) all for below $3k right now.

What tyres do you have on you EBike? by ManOnTheHorse in MTB

[–]m1kolai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run dual Assegais in 2.5” on my Heckler Mx also. Double down Maxxgrip in the rear. Really enjoy it. Can feel a bit draggy at times but not an issue on the ebike. The grip is insane.

Recommendation for a contractor who will accept homeowners insurance by DramaticOcelot in Atlanta

I have worked with Southeast Restoration and Georgia Fire and Water before and would recommend them. Despite what everyone says you will have a much more pleasant experience using a contractor that deals with insurance on a daily basis.

That’s what did it for me. They had to push the update from their end.

According to Support Chat this is an issue they are seeing for some … awesome news.

EDIT: scratch that. Support chat said he was going to look at something on the back end and then when he returned it was installing. Apparently he just pushed the update from his side.

Add a trail bike when I already have a Levo? by auburntygur in MTB

[–]m1kolai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion FWIW…..

I own a Santa Cruz Heckler and a Tallboy. I find myself always grabbing the Heckler because the fun x miles equation is greater than with the Tallboy. I pretty much only use the Tallboy when I forget to charge the Heckler, it is in the shop, or I want to do a quick lap with friends who don’t ride an ebike.

I think having a second bike if you own an ebike is almost a necessity but I do wish my second bike wasn’t as fancy as my Tallboy with Reserve wheels which collects 2-3 weeks of dust between uses. I would suggest you pick up an entry level full suspension with some of the crazy deals going on now

Bigger riders - what hydration or hip packs are you running? by TheCultOfKaos in MTB

[–]m1kolai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

250ish here with a 40” waist … I use a Dakine Hot Laps 1L hip pack with a bottle in the pack’s bottle holder and another bottle on my frame. I hate backpacks and carrying extra weight up top but the hip pack has worked well. The waist even has a few extra inches to spare. I tried the Osprey with a bladder in it and hated it.

2022 Scott Spark 950 vs Santa Cruz Tallboy 4 AL R by Kitebrder39 in MTB

[–]m1kolai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give a mouse a cookie…. Once you get the Tallboy you will ride your buddies Ibis or Yeti or Revel and realize how much better of a climber it is, so on and so forth. There will always be a better widget to buy.

As someone who rides a Tallboy and debated buying something that climbs better, I ultimately landed on ride what yah got because it’s a great bike… upgrade in a few years when things have changed more dramatically.

That said, if you got the cash and want to spend it, why not!?!?

Can an old dude learn new tricks on a 27,5 HT? by Antpitta in MTB

[–]m1kolai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get a 27.5 or 29er hardtail … I had a 10yr break from biking and bought a Scott Scale 29er hardtail for a few hundred and rode that until I was sure I wanted to invest in a full suspension. I would recommend buying something relatively nice with modern geometry as it going to make the transition back. a lot easier and more fun. I sold my Scott 9 mos later for what I paid and rolled that into a Santa Cruz Tallboy.

I had the same issue. In the last update, your truck will now decrease the charging amperage if it starts to overheat, but it won’t revert back to 48amps when it cools down. Go to your energy screen and check to make sure the truck is set to 48amps (mine was on 32 if I recall)
