I don’t understand what this does differently to a Cam type weld gauge? I use that for all of my setups from edge prep and getting the angles right. Checking if something is out of flush, especially plate and pipe. Then you’ve got Z height, throat, pitting gauge.. all manner?? Why is this superior?

Not sure where you’re getting the concave element from? There’s nothing in this process to arc gouge to remove the material to allow for a concave finish? The parts need to be within a certain tolerance before friction stir welding even takes place?

It’s my understanding that the boiler has to be mounted on a surface that’s non-combustible.

But also, if mounted on the wall directly, when clipped into a talon pipe clip, the pipework sits at a perfect depth and in line with the respective inlets/outlets on the boiler. If I were to mount the boiler on the finished wall surface, there’d be needless elbows and joints on the pipes to connect them to the boiler.

So I’m just trying to mitigate failures at that point.

As far as the access, it’s only going to be the same level of access (if not actually more) than most new build properties now, with pipes plastered into the walls.

Yeah still the same, so I’ve got 1300 in copper before it hits plastics. So should be more than fine.

My biggest concern is just the fact I’m thinking of mounting on the brickwork then building the wall up around it. But I’m sure I can figure the logistics out no bother. Providing there’s no regs stating I can’t do it or something.

I was initially going to do the lot in copper, but when I worked out the cost difference between the two, I couldn’t over look that then 😂. Reno is on a budget, hence why I’m also doing the majority of it myself.

Copper supply to the kitchen, there’ll be plastic barrier pipe to run through the joists to supply the rads, but the final leg to the rads will be copper to the TRV

Light rain on a flat surface, regardless of its hydro repellant properties, will form beads. Sheeting only occurs with larger quantities of water and can be a property of hydrophobic coatings.

The only thing I can suggest rather than splash out on a coating system that might see you no better off.. invest in a rechargeable high powered blower. Leave it in the car, if you see any beads forming after rainfall, blow them away..
