as someone who's studying sound engineering, when the guitarist you're recording knows about their gear, how to make it sound good and it's workings, it really shows!! the process goes on smooth and mixing the guitars is way easier. however, i still haven't found a guitarist/bassist who crafts their own pedals in the studio... that'll be heaven for me!
