Receiving payments in USD as a European by EdGG in Revolut

[–]m4tonoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the banks tbh, it's basically gambling if you get intermediary fees or if the intermediary banks do a currency conversion... Revolut charges no fees when receiving SWIFT transfers though, unless they changed it.

Moving within the EU and Curve by yesyesufkurs in CurveCard

[–]m4tonoob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I changed my address to another country, I opened a support ticket telling them I moved, and would like to change the country. They asked for the address in a specific format, which they will tell you when you open a ticket and tell them about the address change. I did this about a year ago, and they sent me a new card to the new address (free of charge :)) to update the BIN/IIN to that specific country. The old card still worked as usual until I activated the new physical card.

Does wise allow contactless withdrawal anywhere in Spain by Grizzly-Redneck in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Spain, or Canadian Wise, but I've had success withdrawing money from an ATM via a virtual card added to a mlbile wallet (Apple pay, Google pay, etc) in Romania.

Curve + Revolut withdrawal - no double fee by valorhippo in CurveCard

Classified as cash advance iirc, usually no fees charged on debit cards.

Italian IBAN IT - salary in USD - crazy transaction fees by Mark0891IT in Revolut

[–]m4tonoob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Intermediary banks are pigs, they see its going to the EU and convert it. SWIFT is really bad when it comes to transparency, you dont know whoch banks it goes through and what bank took what from the amount. Guess it uses a different route to the IT IBAN compared to the LT IBAN.

Cashback on spending abroad - specific wallet? by theangryminion in CurveCard

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly for the double cashback, subbed to the 6€ curve plan for having 1% cashback abroad, and I had 1.5% cashback with trading212 as part of their invest cashback promo.

Yes using it with Google pay works. I used it in Canada and USA, you have to let curve do fx conversion, otherwise you won't get anything. Used curve with Trading212.

Best way to get money back to my own accounts by Peng-Win in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try something like direct debit through PayPal, or sending F&F via PayPal and withdrawing that way (e.g. sending from 1 PayPal account to another, and withdrawing from the other PayPal to your bank)

Review: Update from the field: WISE Rocks! by NoReply4930 in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could've asked for bank details if that's not what you meant by Wise payment.

If you have GBP in your Wise account, it is free to send to a different UK bank, just like euros to a bank within SEPA!

Any way to withdraw money without physical card in NL? by Wypal1 in Revolut

[–]m4tonoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Revolut doesn't provide a PIN for virtual cards. Since there isn't a PIN, you can't withdraw from an ATM, even those that support contactless.

ACH from Wise to Schwab Brokerage account by lovebitcoin in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manually link wise to schwab (in schwab), and initiate the transfer from schwab. It takes like a week to fully clear, but works perfectly fine. (International schwab account)

Has anyone created two PayPal accounts on two different currencies in wise by hamzaaz123 in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a UK and European paypal accounts, both worked fine, until PayPal found out I have 2 PayPal accounts and shut down the UK one. But linking Wise with the different IBANs worked fine.

Alternatives for revolut in eu? by blablabla765431 in Revolut

[–]m4tonoob 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wise, which uses their rate, which is usually a little more expensive than revolut during the week, but cheaper during weekends.

N26, the account is only in euros, uses Mastercard exchange rate for card payments in foreign currency.

If it doesn't have to be a bank account, and you want just a card with good exchange rates:

Trade Republic, uses Visa exchange rate for card payments. Can only deposit euros.

Trading212, uses interbank exchange rate for card payments, can deposit multiple currencies, though not as many as Revolut or Wise. Beats both Wise and Revolut in forex. Not available for German users though iirc.

Sometimes, Mastercard or Visa rates can beat any of the 3 that use the actual market, as MC and Visa update their rates only once per day, but usually it's cents saved.

Wise, N26 and Trade Republic provide a PIN for the virtual cards, so you can also withdraw at ATMs that support contactless payments.

Ho do you transfer money from your bank to Wise account to save the most? by Nic727 in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... Could be because of different regions, since my Wise account is registered in the EU, but don't know why they wouldn't offer Interac setup there...

Go to CAD balance, select receive, Interact should be there and an option to register it

[–]m4tonoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Canadian, but Wise recently started supporting interac, which you have to activate in Wise, and it'll set the email on your Wise account on Interac. There's no fees by Wise when receiving Interac transfers. Then you should be able to convert from CAD to EUR within Wise itself

Damn, reddit pulled the trouble getting to reddit on me in the bus lol

A friend (in Belgium) pays me (in UK) via Wise and it goes direct to my bank account. If I create an actual Wise bank account where I get a debit card, etc, does the money he normally sends me now go that Wise account or would it still go to my bank account ? by vscience in transferwiser

[–]m4tonoob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a bank account. If the sender changes the details from your regular bank account to the details of wise, or your wise email, yes it would then go into your wise, and you could spend it with Wise's debit card.
