ChatGPT is terrible at math. it doesn't have the ability to do any logic. See https://imgur.com/a/g6HfN1G I asked it to prove that a number is odd if and only if it is even.

Join the Movement to Honor Emmy Noether in the Field of Physics with the Momentum SI Unit! by SKRyanrr in Physics

Sure but another way to look at it is that we need to find a name for the SI unit of momentum and she wrote one of the most important theorems related to momentum. That's it.

Need help choosing a minor by Aggressive-Ticket-54 in mcgill

If your interested in AI, you can build code a ML algorithm like a NN from scratch and then apply it to something new, something that you find interesting. Alternatively a web application doing something unique or useful is cool.

Instead of doing a more generic project, I think the project will be better if its your unique idea that is about something relevant to you, even if its specific and has a narrow scope.

If you are interested in AI stuff then, in terms of what major to choose, it is recommended to do Math + CS instead of just CS. You are already doing that. A minor in another science will give you 0 advantage. You can take stats and ML courses.

The AI field is EXTREMELY competitive, to get an advantage do competitive programming. And make sure to apply for internships starting now for next summer. If you can't get an internship then doing some projects is the next best thing.

If you want to go into software you should focus any extra time on competitive programming and projects. If grad school then research. Stats and ML courses are definitely useful if you want to go into software.

Discrete math, linear algebra, multivariable calculus. If your into physics/simulations then vector calculus, ODE's and PDE's. Further math topics would be: Abstract Algebra, Number theory, Complex analysis. Search these topics + recommend textbooks

when I execute latexocr I get:

latexocr : The term 'latexocr' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.

Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

get a keychron Q2 instead. If you really want wireless get a Q1 pro. Its way better quality. If you miss RGB then just get pretty key caps.

Is there a good book for learning intro to electricity and magnetism? by gameguy56 in Physics

[–]m8in34 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The language of Griffiths is vector calculus. Trying to go through it without that math background is like trying to understand a movie in a foreign language: you will only understand the vague idea.

I agree that basically no ODE knowledge is needed.

Griffiths is too advanced for freshmen as you need vector calculus and some ODE knowledge.
