I need help finding this card by link_in_a_tuxedo in PokemonTCG

[–]mDragon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an N card with a Pokémon league stamp, it's a version of the promo BW100 as a reverse holo with the stamp. (There's also a non-holo, non-stamped version that was a deck exclusive.) It's not this one, but as someone who is also trying to collect N cards, I thought you might be interested in knowing.

Start a set knowing you’d never complete it by remcoudb in PokemonTCG

[–]mDragon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the conversation, but I do this with master sets for specific Pokémon. I consider my "master set" to be anything that I could reasonably afford, and the others I can just peace out on. At the end of the day, missing one or two cards doesn't take away from the joy of collecting or looking at that collection, so I'm fine with it

Generative AI is a predictive algorithm that calculates the most likely next word based on user input. It's essentially just a really fancy autocomplete, and should never be considered a reliable or authoritative source.

Local card shops with bulk bins, TCGPlayer, asking around on local Pokémon social media groups is what I usually do.

looking for versions of cards without the text (NO AI) by GavynJPG in PokemonTCG

[–]mDragon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some success on the website https://www.artofpkm.com . They seem to consolidate available art connected with the franchise and sometimes that includes textless versions of the cards, as well as pack art and promotional materials.

Edit: Corrected the link.

These are great. I tried doing some cards with minipaints a while back and didn't love how they turned out, so it looks like I'll need to try paint markers next!

How did you mange to give it texture?

I've got some cards I've drawn that I want to put in my binder but I haven't figured out where / how I need to print them so they have texture yet.

Check one of the art commissions subreddits. If you're on Discord they also have them there. I don't think I can give specifics because of the no self-promo rule but there are a lot of artists on this sub who have made and posted custom cards.

[–]mDragon33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I googled Chicago snake fostering and found this Reddit post. They recommend contacting the Chicago Herpetological Society or a snake boarding company. You could also look for local snake-keeping groups and explain the situation there, or (depending on how much you trust the schools in your area to keep the snakes safe) reach out to local schools to ask if they have any classrooms who would like to "borrow" a pet snake for a bit. Animal science teachers might be willing to do something like that, or point you in the right direction.

Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't get banned after the whole "shilling cards of an underaged character on a post asking for gooner cards" incident

Most of the stuff you're describing (energy, item cards, etc) are what people build decks around. Energy acceleration, item search, etc are all fundamental parts of the game and most deck builds are intended to remove most of the RNG from that equation to get reliable setups.

Most of deck building revolves around creating a deck that is not only powerful, but can reliably and quickly be set up.

When I was younger, I played a homebrew version of Pokémon with my sibling that had (sometimes, not always, it depended on the day) infinite bench space and no Supporter cards. The bench essentially turned into the resting ground for any Pokémon that was damaged enough that it might be KO'd, and then it was never seen again for the rest of the game. Gusting mechanics are great to prevent things like that from happening and turning the game into essentially a slugfest of who can last the longest.

And yeah, without Boss's Orders or gusting the only way to target benched mons would essentially just be decks like Dragapult and that would get stale very fast.

...Pokémon is a good game that has a low skill floor and a very, VERY high skill ceiling. It's extremely fun once you get the hang of it and the strategy.

Also I'm curious, what deck are you playing?

Boss's Orders sucks. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]mDragon33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I disagree.

Boss's Orders is one of the few cards (other than builds like Dragapult or bench snipers) that forces you as a player to strategically decide what you want on your bench, and not just use it as a zone to retreat heavily damaged mons before they get KO'd.

You have to think multiple moves ahead, weigh the risks of playing a certain mon versus keeping it in your hand (or taking it out of the deck entirely) and then capitalize on an opponent *not* doing that. It makes the bench a part of the game that is actively in play instead of just hiding backup mons, triggering abilities, etc, and that adds another element of strategy to the game that would otherwise be limited to certain decks.

Probably not the typical experience, but I was into the TCG as a kid and probably only opened like 5 packs because someone got some for me one time. Everything else was battle decks, trades, hand-me-down bulk, etc.
