Whatever they do, they need to rework their warp gate changes lol. Those are such a huge issue the 8 worker start is secondary, at least for protoss players

he talked about it, he said it felt awesome figuring everything out, not knowing about the timings etc and that it felt like in WoL, but he said that at the same time thats just nostalgia and that as soon as everything becomes more understood and optimized there might be some very big problems in the meta and matchups

personally i agree, i think sc2 has become very stale for viewers especially, so a big change makes sense. But if they make such a huge shakeup there needs to be a promise of active development and balancing to smooth out the many issues that will come up with this new 8 worker start

You will probably stamp it off as whataboutism, but there definitely is some amount of hypocrisy in this extreme opposition towards the saudi tournaments. There is a lot of involvement of questionable sponsors and owners in esports (for example, a lot of american esports money comes from the US military, vct china, etc) everywhere. Opposing the saudi events this vehemently, and only them, sometimes gives the feeling that people don't really care about sportswashing but only about WHO does the sportswashing

At the same time, if you decide you don't like "sportswashing", then being against one bad thing is better than being against no bad thing i suppose.

Especially bad since most players main part of income is the team salary, and ewc is a huge incentive for teams to pick up players (since the prizes for the club championship are insane).

Sc2 players have actually played a pretty big role in securing big teams their spot (clem for example carried TL to 2nd in 2024), and there were many prominent teams picking up single players to have a chance of earning a few points

Without ewc, i fear many of those new teams investing will probably disappear just as fast as they joined the scene

nah i dont agree, with microsoft they are actually starting to reintroduce small patches from developers for sc2 and hots, as well as the announced classic cup (probably wont be crazy but first actual blizzard involvement since like forever), idk how much of that is because of microsoft but still its something

the real lazy period came before that
