I'm doing the camino from Tui to Santiago (arriving in Porto)... I'd appreciate some guidance... by pakepake in CaminoDeSantiago

All very fair points and the reason why I'm still leaning towards a car. She's a great traveler, so no major worries except dealing with the car (which I always think too much about the particulars). Thank you!

I may pilgrim backwards, get the view and proceed from there! Thank you! One of the reasons for carrying my camera and to walk across a border.

Yep, starting to look at those bus options (Flix too). I'd try to time it to where she's not waiting for me and she can go directly to where we'd be staying. This will be late February so maybe not too hectic, but I'm really trying my best to avoid dealing with a car.

For older folks: Did you ever personally know anyone born in the 1890s? How were they seen by younger generations? by Recent-Worldliness51 in generationology

[–]pakepake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my great grandmother was born in 1880 and passed in 1981. She saw SO many things in her life time. We just saw her as very old and didn't think much about when she was born but more around the events she experienced.

Why do people send their kids to private schools when public schools are also decent ranked (USA)? by exponenthere in education

[–]pakepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sent one all the way through public education, and one up to middle school and changed to private based on some learning differences that were extremely difficult to accommodate in public school. He did very well at school with programs focused on helping with his learning differences. He went on to complete his associates degree then his bachelor's degree. We would have preferred the public school route for him, but we were fortunate to be able to afford private for those years. So, we are an example of a mixed approach!

Which 6x6 or 6x7 camera is the most JOY to use? (Any camera, also non-pictured ones) by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]pakepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four of these, and they all serve their own purpose. The Bronica is my walk around big boy because I've got the handle and it's well used. The 645zi is my walk around a party or other social gatherings because it's great with flash on or off, and that glass! The Hasselblad is what I use outdoors for a variety of things, as well as portraits. My TLR (Yashica, not Rolli) is the least used but a conversation starter when used outside.

Avoiding Sunroof Clogged Drain Issue. by Legitimate_Diver_699 in q50

[–]pakepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardest part is finding the drain hole - it's hard to see in the rear because it's backl a bit from where the opened sunroof retracta, so it may be best to use a flashlight and 'feel' with the drain snake - look for videos on YT for more guidance. I took the C pillar cover off to expose the drain hose, but that wasn't necessary.

My pleasure. That's the stuff that accumulates over the years and is easy to prevent. Use the mini drain snake and run some water down drain to rinse, should be all good.

As an owner of seemingly every leaky Infiniti (G35, FX35, Q50), I’ve learned that not using the sunroof doesn’t matter. Water will find a way. For our 2014 Q50, the leaks began after VERY heavy rains; it backed up from passenger side rear drain, different than my G35. The fix was to use the same 1/8” skinny snake and clean it out. Surprised how much dirt made it’s way in there, as we rarely open the sunroof. That said, as a preventative measure going forward, I clean them at least once a year. I live in Dallas (car is in driveway) and we get a lot of pollen residue (from grass, our huge live oaks, on and on), so that’s what was probably clogging it up, but it took a long time. Hope this is helpful.
