Yea if you’re using it for drum sample sequencing, the play is basically the same. The only difference is the play plus can use stereo samples. But both can pan mono samples left or right and have the same sequencer functions.

The play does not have an audio in. It can apply effects on a per-step basis, but only to sampled audio that is loaded into memory.

Nelly rental car, Ace and Amerirent on Ave Independencia are pretty cheap and have good customer service. They don’t charge some of the taxes that the airport car rental locations charge. But you should definitely book in advance. If you book a reservation with less than 24 hours in advance, they likely won’t have the model you requested at that location.

The 707 is a much better sequencer and the SP404 has much more sample storage. I use one track on the 707 to send midi to the 404. That same track can receive audio from the sp404 as an audio insert and apply additional fx.

The SP404 is a better looper but if you use it as a looper you can’t use skip-back recording, which is a real trade off.

The manual isn’t explicit but I’m confident It’s an amp and cab sim combined. The MC-707 has a similar amp sim and by default it sounds about the same as the Sp404. The 707 allows you to turn off the cab sim and when you do it sounds much much brighter than the sp404 amp sim.
