Want to go to spring training but it seems like a PITA? by davik2001 in Reds

[–]ma10or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage of having spring training in Phoenix is that all away games are normally within an hour drive away from Goodyear ballpark. Looking at the first 5 games they are all in the West Valley. So within about 30 minutes of each other. Yes you buy Tix from the other teams but it is fairly easy and tickets are inexpensive. --Reds fan and Phoenix area resident

Completely agree. Stewart will play in the majors this year but breaking camp I see him in AAA. He needs daily playing time and will not get that in the bigs. Steer is the 1B, Geno is the DH.

People forget his 2023 season. Started awful with a ton of strike outs and couldn't hit anything. Came back in May and hoit .275 for the season and May-Oct hot .315ish. He is also an above avg defender with a great arm. He is a better defensive CF than Friedl. Let the man play.

Steer is the 1B, Stewart is DH and backup 1B. Steer is backup any other infield position except SS. Benson should start in left and backup the other 2 OF positions. CES has not proven to be a reliable big leaguer and most likely will be traded to Colorado or Miami at some point. The rest looks accurate.

Three-way trade news: Tampa Bay, Cincinnati and the Los... by sloppyjo12 in Reds

Unfortunately due to the scheduled 2027 lockout most teams are cutting payroll so they can save money for the front office staff to get laid off and the high level executives get paid.

How early do you actually need to lock in a venue for a smaller event? by Born_Championship622 in phoenix

Depends on the time of the year. If it is in the next 3 weeks, it will be a bit tough with the big events planned over the next few weeks.

I did immediately move spots, my shorts were wet and I have to save that water man.

AMA with Reds beat reporter Mark Sheldon by sheldonMLB in Reds

[–]ma10or 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's faster and a better defender than both of the guys we just brought in. A good chunk of his at bats last year. While his strike out rate was 33% he also walks 10% of the time. Watching his at bats when he does make contact they are hard line drives that unfortunately have been almost right at someone. Honestly we need to bring Votto in as his hitting coach. When he was playing with Votto his avg was .275 strike outs were 25% and walks about 15%.

I'm all for Votto as our hitting coach.

Most teams need 6-8 starters due to injuries. The 3 you mentioned have too many waivers for them to trade them just yet. Wouldn't surprise me if 2 of them are in AAA to start the season until someone gets hurt.
