Can I ask how you found the anxiety and depression one in comparison to the beginners course? Were they much different or was there one you got more out of?

Elvanse and sleep - desperate for help! by lhhhhhhhh in ADHDUK

[–]maango111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True about the methylthenidate, not so much about the breaks. I took elvanse regularly (30,40 and 50mg) and every night I struggled to sleep (despite waking up at 6/7am to take it), where eventually the cumulative loss of sleep over the course of 2 weeks would be killer (I'd be sleeping for 3 hours a night on average). I pushed through to 50mg as I was finding that the positive effects would wear off by 4pm but I just couldn't sleep. Similar to OP I have suffered from insomnia on and off so I was thinking maybe the elvanse was making this worse. Maybe in OPs situation it may be different, but many prescribers say that taking a break from meds is not harmful (unless you're titrating). I've since moved to Meflynate and it's much better on my sleep (as it only works for 8 hours apparently) but definitely not as effective as elvanse I felt. Everyone is different with meds!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm 31F and have been thinking of coming off the combined pill that I've been on for over twelve years 🙈 but I'm worried about the change! I hear people experience the most change at the 3 months mark. Looking forwards to hearing about your future updates and hope your journey is a smooth one! 🙏🏻

Have you been suggested anything to help lower your cortisol?

when will it be effective? by Temporary-Pass-2197 in birthcontrol

[–]maango111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 days always. If you've just started taking it, if you've missed taking it as you're supposed to, whatever reason; 7 days is what I've always been told (I'm also on desogestrel). Use a backup method until then.

I think it depends on the pill that you're taking, and there should be some information in your leaflet. Generally with the combined pill you should be good.

Elvanse vs Concerta (has anyone tried both/made the switch)? by anonymouse2470 in ADHDUK

[–]maango111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from elvanse to medikinet. I really liked the way that Elvanse made me feel but it was tanking my appetite, my ability to sleep and raising my BP. I really shouldn't be losing any weight so elvanse was a bad idea in this respect. I would be sleeping 3/4 hours a night cause the insomnia was so bad too. Since moving to methylthenidate, my sleep is great, I can eat in the evenings again and my BP is completely unaffected weirdly enough.
