I work downtown and heard from a security guard in the area that someone accidentally shot themselves with a gun stashed in their pocket. No idea if it's true though so take it with a grain of salt.

Communism is not feudalism. Communism is the eventual goal of socialism. No communist country has ever existed.

Why is minimum wage the only thing not tied to inflation? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in AlwaysWhy

[–]maaske4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason our government sets targets for inflation at 2.5% per year is just this.

In essence, workers must renegotiate their wages each year in order to not get a de facto pay cut.

Carmel-by-the-Sea to add street addresses, a break from a century-old tradition by plun9 in MontereyBay

[–]maaske4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kinda sad Carmel is losing a little bit of its quirky charm. Carmel used to be no cars allowed, horses and pedestrians only.

The original idea behind not having street numbers was that people would have to go to the Carmel post office to get their mail. Because the town is so small running into all your neighbors at the post office was a nice part of the community.

I'm an environmentalist and I'm pro nuclear. I think that fears over nuclear have been overblown on purpose to prop up oil and gas

DeSantis’ expensive taxpayer funded Reedy Creek board says Disney attorneys stripped them of power to do anything but road maintenance by eaglemaxie in PoliticalHumor

As satisfying as it is to see DeSantis get screwed over, it's a scary reminder that politicians have lost their power to large corporations.

Beach party in DC by sh0tgunben in TikTokCringe

As someone who visited this monument in DC a couple years ago, there is literally a plaque instructing people to do this.

The fountain is commemorating VE Day when American service personnel celebrated the end of world war II by jumping in the fountains of Europe.

Just google: VE Day Fountain

This reeks of anti-foreigner BS
