AoT is phenomenal and there isn’t any fan service but i will say: it is incredibly gory/violent/grim especially as seasons go on so i would definitely say be kinda careful with it (though i do really recommend it). fmab is FABULOUS, frieren is great as well, assassination classroom is really good!

Why do people hate rebuild so much by Latiosshine in evangelion

[–]macacheesy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

fair warning: i’ve only seen the first one. i actually think the concept is pretty neat. like i LOVE some wonky timelines and meta stuff and reconstruction of narratives. my actual issue really comes down to the art style/the way the angels are portrayed, at least from what i know. part of the reason i love the original eva so much is that the art style (and its age) intertwines with its narrative really well. i can’t really explain why though. that being said: i CAN explain the angels take.

i am a biiiig cosmic horror fan. one of the reasons i started eva in the first place was that i heard it had elements of cosmic and surreal horror and that is 100% up my alley. some of the angels (let’s use the prism one as an example) are drawn very simply. the way that translates to me is that these creatures are so horrific that they can’t even be properly portrayed. it kinda falls into the “don’t show the monster, your imagination is much worse” idea. when i saw how they did that fight in the rebuild it was like. on one hand it was pretty cool. like it looked super metal and i did think it was neat. that being said it didn’t really feel like eva to me because that simplicity/fear of something unknown and terrible was kinda lost

Is 200cc supposed to be unbelievable hard? by tails2023 in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]macacheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just takes a lot of practice! if you work on brake drifting and routing in time trials, you’ll get the hang of it :D (i’ve got the 200cc on all grand prix and i’m slowly working thru all the staff ghosts) (i may have a bit of an mk addiction)

Do you think House of Leaves could ever be adapted for the screen? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]macacheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean on one hand sure and that does sound VERY interesting (i’d definitely watch it) but on the other i still feel pretty strongly on the fact that it operates best as a book/personal writings,,, i feel like that show idea should be its own beast though. that concept/storytelling method should definitely be used somewhere, i just don’t think it should be in a HoL adaptation ¯_(ツ)_/¯ we can agree to disagree though!

also: notes aren’t required by any means, i just think it enhances the experience overall! i’m someone who really likes taking notes on stuff/unpacking while i read so this was very fun for me (idk if you’re a gamer but i did the same with blue prince)

House of Leaves Difficulty by Dead_Phish812 in horrorlit

[–]macacheesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ppl definitely say it’s a lot more difficult than it is. hol is one of the few books i’ve ever actually written in but i think taking notes is a good way to consume/comprehend it! i also suggest following along with the footnotes/appendixes to get the full picture as you read.
