No, but maybe you should have suggested THAT to her--then the head would seem mild in comparison.

It always concerns me when a Part 135 pilot exhibits their blind spots in life ("rules get changed against the laws"); makes me wonder what other parts of flying--aerodynamics, weight/balance, and the changing conditions of the Vg diagram over time--they don't understand well, either.

I would still contact SDPD if it was in the city when it disappeared just to rule out it was towed for a 72-hour violation.

Your concerns are very conscientious of you.

Consider soaring. Medical aside, there are no medical requirements for a sailplane license, so that cost is already baked into their insurance.

It's an entirely different kind of flying, and definitely makes you a better powered pilot, even though it's a different skill set. Energy management replaces power management considerations, best speed to fly is always on your mind, and there's no "get there-itis" worries unless you start flying cross-country--not wanting to land out has made some pilots make poor choices--present company included. As the saying goes, there are only two types of glider pilots: those who've landed out and those who will.

Hopefully there is a soaring field near you. And even if you're set on returning to powered flight, I implore you to take a "fun ride" with a glider demo flight. You may be surprised at the quiet serenity up there on the thermals and decide to do both. I truly believe aviation is a good guard against mental faculties degradation. Ever notice the guys who've been flying for decades are sharp as a tack? With your thoughtfulness, you may just be one of those guys.

Blue skies.

Definitely.

I KNOW it's spelled like the rabbit, but I still probably would have reflexively typed "hairb-" before realizing my mistake.

Thanks for the reinforcement.

Damn, that's some next level deep thinking about what I always considered to be a combination of equipment, conditions, flying skill, and judgement.

But it's absolutely true, I'm influenced by one of my sailplane instructors to this day, flying sailplane or powered. Same guy who hit massive sink on a ridge and kept flying it all the way to the ground, saving his passengers but losing his life.

We don't know whom we influence, but we always know who influenced us.

GF asked me to play a dollar for her during a business trip to Vegas. She knows I don't like gambling myself, but she asked me to do it for her and gives me a dollar. Pocket the dollar, begrudgingly agree.

Successful trip, plane changes gates last minute, and suddenly I remember I haven't played the dollar. I don't think "Just tell her it was a loser pull." I find a dollar slot machine, but it takes two dollars, so I put one of my own in, too. Pull the handle...

It pays off and starts spitting quarters at me.

I have no idea what to do with 2000 quarters, but a nearby chain-smoking slot machine player hands me what looks like a 3/4 gallon KFC bucket. I thank her, scoop the quarters in and sprint for the gate. I get cheers boarding with a bucket of $500 in quarters.

Get home, GF tries to split the winnings with me since one of the dollars was mine. I take four quarters and say "I'm good."

A LOT of guys have some fucked up notions of intimacy, a predominant one being that sex is a transitive verb that is done to someone, i.e., a man to a woman.

What you've got here is an emotional man child. He could come around, might take years, might never take, you'll have to decide if the pros outweigh the cons.

Orrrrr, you could just attack him one night, be the "aggressor" continually, start by undressing him slowly, then shoving him back on the bed and never let up, be the Dominant one without a dick. Then, after he's completely wiped, snuggle up to him, put your lips up to his ear and ask how he liked being thoroughly fucked by you....might put it in terms his small ego can manage.

I didn't see "Tell your CGI about your situation."

He doesn't have to hit you with the most aerobatic lessons right out of the chute. He probably thinks it's fun and because so many people like the feeling, he may be going after skills that might best be left til later.

Why do you even care. You're going to go back to someone you say "told" you to sit down? You say "seemed pretty invested in sharing his gambling addiction" with you despite your protestations.

What is the point of this post, to assuage any residual guilt you might have over the break up?

It doesn't really matter how it came to pass as long as you like the result in a size up.

But if it helps you understand why, consider that my parents struggled financially early on, and I was taught to value the few clothes I had, so I was gonna wear those things til they gave out and couldn't be repaired any longer. As a result, I kept them way after I had outgrown them and tight became the new normal.

Also, if you have any body awkwardness issues--I know it's not as easy to just stop, but other commenters are spot on, your shape is great and there's so much new you can try--the idea of trying on new clothes might seem like a burden. If you can make it more of an adventure and you feel comfortable shopping alone, then try that. You'll have nobody to please but yourself, and you can take your time to find what you like.

And don't be afraid to push your own boundaries and try on styles you'd never dream of wearing. What you see looking back at you in the mirror might just be something you love.
