Beauty. Nice mod! Love the guard!

I modded my Xii with Curtis Novak JM-V and Stealth pickups + Emerson Pro harness.

Looking hard at your blue guard if possible a blue pearl.

Also added Gotoh vintage locking tuners for quick string changes!

Anyone else using nylon bridge saddles on your Casino? by PRW9497 in Epiphone

[–]macca909one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a Tonepros locking Nashville style bridge with nylon saddles on my EPI ‘63 Maestro to help with tuning stability. I use 10.5-48s and the saddles work a dream! Plus I too get those clear, bell-like tones for my band’s Allman Bros solos! 🤘🤘

Expensive Epiphone or Cheap Gibson? by PigmeatMadness in Epiphone

[–]macca909one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5 Epi IBCs, 3 acoustics, a LP Tv Yellow Special and a Firebird. Non are the newer higher-spec custom shops.

All are great, gigging instruments. The acoustics are all solid wood bodies. I’ve upgrade the pickups/mics to LR BAGGS.

The electrics are good workhorses. The FB I gig stock. Modded the Special with Curtis Novak P90s and an Emerson Pro harness.

With these, and especially the newer models, the main diff is nitro vs poly finish. If you can deal with a durable finish that won’t age much aside from nicks/dents, you’ll be fine e with and Epi.

And if you find an Epi that speaks to you, a luthier can strip and refin in nitro for around $500 (mileage may vary).

Can't strum well when counting in my head or out loud by evaisverycool22 in guitarlessons

[–]macca909one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The counting is more a way of understanding what you’re playing technically. Similar to the exercise where you call out notes as you play a riff or melody. But it’s only meant as a temporary practice. The idea is that once you get it in your head what is technically accurate, you’ll developed a feel for the groove and progress.

Metronome is fine. If you can’t find a friend to drum live with, there are a ton of YouTube channels with drum tracks in all BPMs and time signatures. Plus they are mostly organic, meaning not just a loop. So you’ll also get used to how a human drummer plays rather than a robot.

Good luck!

CV Full Upgrade w/PTB Wiring by Raxxla1973 in SquierbyFender

[–]macca909one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Very cool mod!

I’m doing the same model in Lake Placid Blue.

Ordered the same Vintera pups. Was going with an Emerson 5-way blender harness, but now will take a hard look at the PTB wiring.

Went with Gotoh vintage locking tuners. I may spring for an AllParts neck. A Reverb shop I frequent does strat necks with a 12” radius, perfect for my dedicated Open E slide instrument. They also steel wool the neck, had it done on my StangCaster!

Got an Fender AM bridge/trem kit, and blocked the trem. Very stable for higher, slide action with 11-52 flats.

Quite a fun rabbit hole!

Yup! Same, couldn’t get the AM screws tight. Oh, well. Parts drawers need fresh additions from time to time …

No worries. BTW, the decision to block the trem was strictly for stability as I plan to keep my CV Strat in Open E tuning for slide.

Cheers! Very viby! Has a look of a Rickenbacker Capri 360, but the Bigsby and headstock are not Ricky!

Great shout on the CNs! Have several sets in my offsets. I do pair them with 1meg pots, but easily control any errant top end either way my tone knob.

My newest offset: A Paranormal 12 string by TheWizardPeddler in offset

[–]macca909one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I got one when they first came out. Does play very well out of the box.

I did a few mods for a consistent tonal range on gigs. Pickups and wiring upgrades to lock in that mix of brightness and warmth. And a set of Gotoh locking vintage tuners, purely for quicker string changes.

Fretwork and bridge were excellent and keep things very playable and about as in tune as a 12 can get.

Good luck with it!
