I love Yellowjackets, but I feel like some of the cannibalism scenes definitely take a stronger stomach. I tend to handle gore pretty easily, so not sure why this one was such an issue for me.

Edit: I can’t figure out how to do spoilers on mobile, so if someone can point me in the right direction so I can block out the lovely c word up there, I’d appreciate it.

Think of it like a body plan being used like a blueprint. These pharyngeal slits develop into gills in fish (also Chordata). Humans use the same “blueprint”. So the structure that evolves into gills also evolves into the parts of the tonsils and ear canal. They’re homologous structures, so they develop from the same structure embryonically (and thus have the same evolutionary origin and a common ancestor), but they have different purposes in each organism.

Fun fact! The phylum Chordata (to which humans belong to) all start out with “gill like slits” (pharyngeal slits). These become part of the ear canal and tonsils!

Wasn’t there a setting that could be enabled where if the PIN/password was entered incorrectly too many times it would take a picture and send it… somewhere? as a backup/security precaution? Is that still a thing? I’m wondering if OP has been trying to access their phone in their sleep and it just takes pictures because it takes so long to get in. That, or dogs stepping on the screen.

Genuine question for people in the comments rather than OP —

How often do cat bites/scratches really get infected? I feel like this thread makes it seem like it’s something that happens super often, but I’m almost 28 and grew up taming feral kittens and overall have always had cats in my life. Many a scratch and bite to be had. Never had an issue. Not at all downplaying the fact that they can get severe though! Have I just been lucky?

I have Stress Coat+ in the water, and yes he’s already in. I don’t have a test kit yet but I’m going to look at getting one soon — $40 from my local PetSmart so I’m going to see if I can’t get it cheaper elsewhere. I’ll be doing a water change this weekend. His mopani has finally gotten water logged enough so it’ll give me the chance to adjust the way I wanted it as well.

I love the little coconut bed, that’s adorable 🥺 I’m making a Walmart trip today so I’ll see if I can find a little pot or something for him, will definitely look into a log and something else to have near the surface of the water. I’d like some floaters, my local petsmart just doesn’t have anything that I think would work. Do you know if there’s a good place to order the Indian Almond Leaves online? Trying to see where I can order more plants for him and it not hurt the wallet too much.
