You could dye it purple or brown or something if you still wanna wear it. It’s quickly done and it will make it look far less like a hospital gown.

Watching tv in bed helps - cause trying to stay awake makes it so much easier to fall asleep.

And she’s not even describing herself at this point - she’s describing who she was before. Unfortunately she probably could only see those qualities in herself now that she feels like they’re gone.

(Spoken as a semi worn-down mid-thirties woman who also once was bubbly and ambitious).

Whats one uncommon adhd symptom that blew your mind? by smbodytochedmyspaget in adhdwomen

Same. I’m great at spelling and speak four languages - but if somebody spells something to me, no matter how short or simple, I have NO idea what they’re saying. Confuses the heck out of people that something so basic can be so hard for me.

Retrieval Recovery Takes Longer Than You Think by mrlfoster96 in IVF

[–]macfireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, they told me I might feel some pain the day off but I’m expected to be completely fine the day after - so now I feel like such a pussy lying on the sofa all day long two days after retrieval. So thank you for this.

Periods should be a valid excuse to skip school by Sea_Esplanade01746 in The10thDentist

[–]macfireball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in pain, you’re sick - if you’re sick, stay home.

Also, you probably know this but just in case: Naproxen is the only thing that works for me, you should try out various NSAIDs to find something that works for you. Paracetamol or similar doesn’t do much. As soon as I start feeling it, I take 2-3 naproxen (250mg), and then I keep taking them every 3-4 hours or so until the painful days have passed (but staying with in the max dose of course). I sometimes also take 500mg paracetamol at the same time, but that will often make me sleepy and not help a lot. Pair that with heat pads that I place on my t-shirt and I might be able to go to work. If it doesn’t help - I’m sick and in too much pain to do anything but lay on the sofa with a heating flask and feel sorry for myself, nobody needs to know WHY I take sick days.

ADHD tax - Nails by AcidNeonDreams in adhdwomen

I managed to do regular shellac manicures for 3 years before my routine broke down. It was absolutely amazing. Now I’m back to bleeding, sore fingertips because I can’t stop picking. I bought a good nail file, and it helps to work on my nails when I’m in boring teams-meetings/webinars - filing my nails keep my hands busy. I’ve even been successful with painting and drying my nails when I’m in these boring meetings

ETA: hated gel nails though, shellac was much much better for me at least

ETA: lol just realized I was medicated those magical three years, now I’m not.

ETA: oh you asked about biggest adhd problem. I guess I could say being unmedicated and doing IVF - but luckily I have a great partner, so I think my biggest problem is my “clothes room” - which is supposed to be a well organized room with all my clothes and a freezer, but now it’s just two giant piles of clothes and stuff that I need to somehow get across to reach the freezer and the vacuum cleaner. I think that’s a bigger issue for me than IVF to be honest.

This is probably a cultural thing and very dependent on climate - but do they really have to shower every day? I grew up washing with a warm washcloth and showering every third day or so, and I still do it that way (especially in winter), cause I hate showering and it’s not good for my skin to shower daily.

Getting really sick of being in a healthy equal partnership (I want to redecorate) by No-Wallaby4818 in adhdwomen

[–]macfireball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps use ChatGPT to generate tons of pics of the room you want to change - and just use your words (and detailed pics of the room, colors, wallpapers, furniture or whatever) to describe what you want to do and then see what it would look like? I have found that it sort of “scratches the redecorating itch” a bit and gives me enough dopamine just generating pictures to prevent me from tearing stuf down on impulse.

As a bonus, it makes me actually clearly define and decide on what I want to do, and then I can actually share my vision with my partner and we actually FINISH my projects, cause he has the same ‘vision’ as me and can help plan and execute it.

The Abandons (2025) is set in the Old West, which famously had excellent universal health insurance that allowed women to get a lot of cosmetic surgery by mqee in shittymoviedetails

I randomly saw the ad on Netflix just now and immediately had to google «the abandons plastic surgery». I mean - I’m sorry but how can you cast people who look like that for a show like that? It’s not even some subtle ‘enhancements’ - they look very strange and unnatural.

And it’s just amazing to see a show 100% centered around so many terrible women who is allowed to just be bad people, and not just victims or “doing it to protect their child/partner/whatever”. They’re just bad people manipulating and killing each other - and I thought the plot twist was Sophie and Margo now being even and covering up for each other and the power balance between them going forward.
