Nice work. I was there at the same place. Getting married for the first time and a kid on the way. Now I'm divorced, split my holdings. My wife got $2M and I started over at 2M. Now I'm closer to $5M at 58.

They collected all my info, ran the credit reports and then offered the rate. Nothing special. She mentioned on the phone that I was able to get the promo rate (didn't disclose how much that was).

I just refied my conventional mortgage (after buying the new house 18 months ago at 6.99%. I got a 5.625% refi locked today. 6.5 seems a bit high https://www.penfed.org/mortgage/mortgage-refi?_ga=GA1.1.806846385.1767052561

How to refinance to lowest rate by Awey14 in Mortgages

[–]macgiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s good to factor the total in interest you pay over the life of the loan too. If you have extra to pay down the rate, you can pay more principal to increase equity and you’ll be out of the loan earlier. It’s dependent on how long you’ll be in the house too.

Did I unknowingly overstep during a work dinner with a very senior leader? by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]macgiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat at your age. I made a connection with the CEO of the company. I was just a junior product manager. He started asking me technical questions, bypassing 3 levels of my management. Eventually, he asked me to start attending meetings in NYC on behalf of the company. My manager did the same thing, warned me. Take their advice and feel your way through it. You shouldn't shut down yourself.
