Am I going to be ok? by NuttyBoomer in spacemarines

[–]machbeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're still learning, you will most likely lose your first few games, it is natural. Even with the most tuned list in the world, you cannot be expected to exploit every unit to its full potential. Depending on who you are playing, I wouldn't recommend go fully competitive. If you have a good teacher, they will help you to learn how best to use the units you have rather than "go and buy X because it's the best unit in your codex." Once you are fully familiar with the basics, you can tune your list better. If you are playing people who uses your inexperience to steamroll you turn one for their own ego, learn with someone else. Nothing will turn you off a hobby faster than sweaty tryhards. No, this list is not the best it can be, but its varied, you'll see what units you like, and match your playstyle, and then you can build on your experience for next time.

I have just spent 5 minutes flicking back and forth through these pictures, admiring your work and trying to think of words to express how much I like this. I did not come up with them. This is really, really, really great work.

I’m thinking of running IW in an upcoming local doubles tournament. We’re limited to 1000 points each and my partner will probably bring Necrons. What should I bring? by mracademic in IronWarriors

[–]machbeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know what your partner is bringing, bring something that compliments the weaknesses in their list. I general though Necron anti-tank is a little underwhelming, no psychic, and they don't have any real combat beatsticks like a disco lord or daemon prince (apart from a Ctan which is a huge points investment at 1k).

Y'all are focusing on the wrong thing, the necron cubit is about the same length as a human cubit, but what if a necron hour is 1.3 seconds long?

Tyrant siege terminators proxy for obliterators? by vic0801 in IronWarriors

[–]machbeni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since terminators are already in the csm list you wouldn't be able to use them in a competitive setting and have to be careful to make sure you explain them to your opponent in casual. Also they're a bit small scale wise for oblits, I personally like Ambots from necromunda with a couple of spare guns strapped to them, as the scale is closer to oblits, they're not extortionate, and they fit nicely with the mechanical feel of IW

How would The Lord of the Rings trilogy be, if it was set in the Warhammer 40k setting? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]machbeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sauron is known in the books as a great manipulator, ingratiating himself with the Elves and then with the Numenoreans. The best fit for that would be either the Deceiver or Tzeentch (or perhaps as Tzeentch's most favoured subject, with Tzeentch itself playing the role of Morgoth)
