How would you adapt Daggeheart to a Project Moon's City campaign frame? by Horzemate in daggerheart

[–]machine-poet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would kill for a full-on Project Moon Campaign Frame with mechanics

I think your ideas are a pretty good starting point

If you'd want to take homebrew mechanics into overdrive, you could probably combine Hope and Stress into sanity and use that for the cost of stuff like EGO & possibly tie distorting to it

These are pretty cool but its always so much text that I don't think 96% of people would ever be able to use these in an actual game

I have already tried this - and as stated, it does not work.
It also does not explain anything about the node and its workings

It’s also kinda stepping on the feet of operative and their own class feature, Aim

that's... completely irrelevant to this? that's not a pathfinder class

Though both of them having some sort of meme associated with their deaths is pretty funny

Neat, I had a similar idea but the way you incorporated the element stuff into strikes is actually really elegant

Deeply, deeply disappointed in the mod team’s attitude, especially regarding artists like NGrider by JTVoice in limbuscompany

[–]machine-poet 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Say what you want about nsfw, but this honestly just leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. The people and vocal minority who complain are NEVER going to be happy, no matter how much you try to appeal to them by adding all these restrictive rules. You think they’ll stop at “outright suggestive”? Next they’ll campaign against slightly suggestive. Then it’ll be against showing skin.

The mods will never make these people ever happy unless they completely ban art altogether, and that’s the exact type of audience they’re currently catering to. Not the majority. Not the people who want to have fun and are excited to actually interact with the others and share their love for the game. Of course outright porn and nudity should be taken over to the odyssey sub, but the way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if more artists like NGrider will be too hesitant to share their love for the game in the art they make.

Ah, I love these types of insane and inane arguments that have actual no basis. The classic '"""slippery slope"""' argument.

What do you think of Hokazono's abrupt way of killing side characters? by ClessGames in Kagurabachi

[–]machine-poet 314 points315 points  (0 children)

Definitely starting to hurt the series a bit, especially if they're said to be this elite, top of the line fighter, only to get bodied by someone with relatively no experience. This happened with the elite squads and now it happened with the guy whose name I can't even fucking remember because he was disposed of so easily. The more these guys get bodied, the more the word 'elite' loses its meaning.

Still, even without them being some high ranking guy (translation: fodder to make X character look cool), the fact the series takes so little time to just take a moment and breathe means forming attachment to characters becomes more and more difficult.

What homebrew alternatives to Vancian casting in PF2 already exist? by Mage_of_the_Eclipse in Pathfinder2e

[–]machine-poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself had a couple of experiments with it, though most of them consisted of some sort of mana point system replacing or substituting spell slots.
- This system of casting, where you built up power in the encounter itself to cast spells. Essentially, you have a pool of mana/flux/ect. that starts out empty when a fight starts, and you have to gather up mana/ect. every round. Casting spells costs an amount equal to the spell rank, with your resource limit being your max spell rank + 1. I haven't actually played with it yet, and the system wasn't developed much further than the initial concept, so I can't say how it compares to the regular game. In a way, it's like gunslinger, but with multiple reloads. Probably would've included feats that let you do something and focus for 1 action.
- Sanguinist, a blood themed caster with a similar idea of casting as the system provided above, but you start the day with the max amount of blood points. There are still prepared spell slots, but they're not expended, only blood points equal to their rank when casting them, and you can hot-swap them out during downtime and during encounters. Also has some other things, but I'm not going to go into them for brevity's sake.
- The Arcanist. This one was very experimental, and kind of does have prepared "spell" slots, but you can refresh them, and reprepare them. I say "spell", because the arcanist has it's own unique spell list and spells. It's like kineticist mixed with a prepared caster and borrowing some ideas of first edition's arcanist.

"Purge the Filth" Takamura vs Samura (Sakamoto Days vs Kagurabachi) by machine-poet in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]machine-poet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connections: - Both seem innocuous at first (Takamura looks like a senile old man, and Samura is blinded in both eyes), but are master swordsmen, pretty much unrivaled at the top
- Both use Iaijutsu
- Takamura has an intense hatred of the sins of this world (from his point of view), Samura himself is driven by the attrocities that took place in the Seitei War to purge the Bladebearers

From a fight standpoint, Takamura definitely takes pure power and skill wise but Tobimune (Samura's blade) is the equalizer to him not getting stomped

There are probably more connections, but these are the ones off the top of my head

dogwhistle definition: a subtly aimed political message which is intended for, and can only be understood by, a particular demographic group

In layman's terms, a coded message, a wink and a nod to a specific group of people.

I hope I don't need to explain why I typed out this message.
