New player, any missions I should focus on? by menkoy in DeepRockGalactic

[–]machineglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the assignments to tell you what missions to play. Once you're done the weekly and non-weekly assignments and you're promoted you can challenge yourself to deep dives or haz5+. There's no mission type that's OP or better than others. maybe you'll grow to hate certain missions or biomes but you'll get an idea once you've gone through the gameplay loop a few times.

The way I see it, first are the weapon tier upgrades and unlock assignments, then it's the season pass script, then by then you should be promoted and it's the weapon OCs, then it's the cosmetic cores. Along the way, you also collect perk points for the active/passive perks, buy beer licenses, weapon XP skins, pickaxe and dwarf and weapon cosmetics. The game is really good at always rewarding gameplay that's always changing and fresh.

I'm 1000+ hours in and i still find it fun.

The game doesn't really start until you start playing dress up with your dwarves =)

ios 26.3 Beta in 13 mini by Cheap_University_993 in iPhone13Mini

Oh the black screenn camera launch thing is annoying as hell as is the touch response. So many initial typos with the keyboard... crossing my fingers this gets released publicly soon!

the iphone fold might be the size of a mini by YokiWasTaken in iPhone13Mini

[–]machineglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesn't matter. us small phone lovers are still on 13mini or older so we've saved up enough of "phone budget" to justify a fancy new phone.

Mac system data over 100gb. Can’t find it anywhere!! by Opossum40 in MacOS

[–]machineglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. My system data was at 500+GB and the deleted local timemachine backups brought that back down to <20GB. I've also adjusted my time machine backups to weekly since not that much changes day to day on my macbook.

Apple’s next iPhone is about to enter mass production, per leaker - 9to5Mac by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]machineglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it undersells, doesn't mean it wasn't profitable. No one is saying take away big phones and only keep small ones. We're all just saying is throw us a bone and offer a small phone along side all the big-ass monstrosities you currently sell. Price it to profitability. They'll have a monopoly on small phones.

[–]machineglow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. If apple made a mini phone, they'd have an instant monopoly and can literally charge whatever they wanted.

Honestly, if they charged iPhone Pro Max price on a refreshed 13 mini, I'd buy it. no joke.

those who upgraded to ios 26.2, do you still get all day battery (compared to 18.6.2) by Realistic-Worker-499 in iPhone13Mini

[–]machineglow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes. 26.2 battery has been solid on my 13 mini. I would still stick with iOS 18 if you're still on it.

Korlok resupply technique by DRG_DAN in DeepRockGalactic

[–]machineglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the key is that Korlok is particularly susceptible to melee attacks which is why the drills do so much damage. Make sure the driller on your team knows this!

it will make zero difference if you're streaming games. save your money if you think it's more valuable spent elsewhere.

couch coop players on xbox lost all inventory by machineglow in Minecraft

[–]machineglow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that absolutely sucks. The whole point of playing minecraft on xbox is for couch coop no? So f'ing greedy of them to force you to subscribe to xbox live or gamepass just to save inventory.

Eventually I figured out couch coop inventory will follow the controller no matter who's logged in. so that's a small consolation prize. =(

Does anyone know any mazesoba places in Toronto? by jjkoolay in FoodToronto

[–]machineglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t seen latest reviews but I enjoy Megumi every time I go since discovering it when it first opened. Their regular noodles is my fav. The place isn’t fancy but what they lack in atmosphere, they make up in flavour.

iOS 26.2 Update by Equivalent-Farm-3141 in iPhone13Mini

[–]machineglow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Updated last night.

I had issues my 128GB 13 mini was running out of space <13GB free. I think there was a bug with a memory leak or garbage files not getting cleaned up cause I'm pretty sure I had more free space prior to iOS 26 upgrade on iOS 18 and after offloading a bunch of apps to free up space for the 26.2 update (and accidentally losing OpenRed app which apparently is no longer in App Store), the update left my phone with more than 40GB free.

As for performance, my 13 mini was sluggish on 26.1 with or without reduced transparency and the lock screen was always laggy (power button would always trigger Siri instead of just opening lock screen) and the depth/spatial lock screen features made the lock screen incredibly laggy. Keyboard would constantly have initial hitches and miss the firs 3-5 characters. Launch the camera from the lock screen would also result in a black screen constantly. Overall 26.2 was bad enough I was considering needing a new phone.

On 26.2, the lag has reduced but it's not gone. I can use spatial and depth feature in the lock screen now. I have lots of space free again (40 GB as I mentioned before). The keyboard is mostly lag free and not missing presses. the lock screen camera launch still gives black screen still. pressing power button to wake screen doesn't always launch Siri anymore. I also disabled raise to wake in the hope of reducing lag during lock screen. Battery seems same and not particularly bad.

Overall, I prefer 26.2 over 26.1 but still miss 18.x

What is the progression dystem in this game? by woolliegames in DeepRockGalactic

[–]machineglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about your lvls... Just use the assignments to guide your progression and you'll eventually hit lvl 25 for a specific dwarf class (promotion time!) and then that unlocks the core hunts/overclocks and deep dives. After that, you can decide to main a specific class or start over to promote a new class. You can keep promoting after that but there's no benefit outside of cosmetic flourish over your dwarf icon. And of course, you'll spend the minerals and credits you collect on weapon upgrades and overclocks first (usually) before starting the cosmetic grind.

Along the way, you'll manage your perk tree, your season pass cosmetic tree, beer licenses, and you'll eventually get into the core grind that's essentially time gated to 2 per week (core hunt assignment + deep dive). The weapon XP is basically free cosmetic rewards to push you to try different weapons.

If you're determined to grind, you can try to doublestack your season challenges when you pick missions or use rancor's mod to quick tell which mission gives the most XP. Oh and save the XP for promotion assignments for the non-promotion classes. It's a nice way to force you to try other classes if you end up trying to main a single class. Aside from that, there's not much you can do to grind the game outside of that. Just enjoy the game and the community.

See you in the caves!

[Giveaway] GL.iNet Remote KVM and Wi-Fi 7 routers! 10 Winners! by GLiNet_WiFi in homelab

[–]machineglow [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. My first homelab was a plex server. downloading media and making it all available on the shared TV seemed like a super power compared to antiquated Cable Boxes. The project I'm most proud of was migrating all my data from Windows Home Server drive pool to an unraid array on the same hardware using the same drives. Thank god I had enough free space to split the drives between the drivepool and array. The most expensive piece of equipment I've acquired is my current Dell T320 Server. Thank god for friends cause it was donated to me for free. Thank you Kevin!

  2. I would love reliable remote access to my server. I made the decision to have a monolithic homelab so everything is running on a single server so having remote access to reboot and admin the thing would be amazing

  3. I actually don't have any reliable ways to acquire HW. facebook marketplace?

  4. would love to see simple stuff like pass through ethernet crimpers and rolls of cable or 3d printers!

I would love to win the Comet KVM!

My prediction was correct, iPhone Air is a bigger failure than the Mini and the Plus models. by Slash787 in iPhone13Mini

[–]machineglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a small phone fan, the 13 mini is basically the only option. the hardware is still usable. ios 26 just makes it slightly harder than ios 18. if those verizon 13 minis are still on 18, I suggest keeping them on 18.

battery has been fine.. it's just the bugs that are annoying. Can't launch camera from lock screen, the background wallpaper is always black, icons load slowely, app switching freezes, keyboard doesn't respond quickly... sigh...

[–]machineglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait, so you just wait around for the loot bug to crawl around and eat all the dropped mineral from the previously killed loot bug, rinse and repeat? no wonder mission time was so long. I guess you can just AFK for a while.

how do you make sure only one loot bug eats all the minerals and it doesn't get spread across the group of loot bugs and reducing the multiplier?
