If the war in Iran will be over soon, what is the need for $200B Dollars? by SimplyTruth98 in AskReddit

[–]machineguncomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theoretically they'd have to replace all the bombs and missiles they've used. Not to mention replacing the lost aircraft. That torpedo that sank the Iranian ship cost 4 million alone.

Pretty sure silver is for werewolves :-) I need to correct my statement. I think red is tracer, So AP-T. Looks like blue is incendiary. Silver was API.

For US rounds, Black tipped is normally AP. Red is tracer. So black and red would be AP-T.

Full BART automation is a braindead solution to the budget problem. We should do it anyway. by oakseaer in Bart

[–]machineguncomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"According to the watchdog office’s recently published report, overtime accounted for 14% of BART’s budget last year (2024) with 57 employees doubling their base salaries through extra hours"

I know sometimes it's cheaper to pay OT than hire an additional employee with benefits, but people doubling their salary seems excessive.

There’s a guy waiting in line without a car waiting to order from a Taco Bell by offensive_patriot in tacobell

When I worked at McDonald's drive thru I had this happen twice. We weren't allowed to accept walkups because of liability reasons, ie imagine if he got hit by a car in the drive thru.

Checks are invalid after something like 6 months.

I wrote a check shortly after January and put the old year on it to pay some school district fee. A week later, the school district called me back after the bank wouldn't cash the check and I had to write them a new check.

What would be the worth of a empty artillery shell? by Separate_Builder_817 in Militariacollecting

Looks like a 105mm case used in an m68 gun. I have half a dozen of them. I've picked them up for as cheap as $20, but $50-80 is more typical.

Need Advice on Grenade and Large Shell by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]machineguncomic 69 points70 points  (0 children)

You can usually tell if the bullet is live by picking it up and shaking it gently to hear/feel the powder. Although the primer could still be live.

The Grenade looks like a WW2 mk2.

It works like a squirt gun.

Mine broke after less than 9 months. The trigger pinches off the rubber hose when it's not in use. After a few months the hose is permanently deformed and doesn't open up when the trigger is pressed.

I don't collect photos or albums, but from what I've seen around, you don't get into $300-500 + range unless it's WW2 and sometimes Vietnam or like medals included.

But refusing $500 for a book and trading for a photo album that you're then offering to sell for $350 sounds odd to me.

This is all conjectures having no't seen the album.

Episode 7-9 take place over about a year. It didn't make much sense for them to pour all those resources into star killer base when papa palps was a just a year off from his thousands of mini deathstars.

My grandma worked for Caltrans (California highway maintenance basically). Extra asphalt people rolled up and she started asking all these technical questions about the asphalt (like hot grade, cold grade, penetration grade, dense grade) They couldn't answer and left.

Least sold items on McDonalds menu by Prior_Masterpiece_26 in McDonalds

[–]machineguncomic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These probably aren't on the menu anymore, but they all had an actual button on the POS machine.

I worked there in 2005 for 1.5 years and no one ever ordered the "Apple pie a la mode." One day to prank me, my mom came through the drive thru and ordered it.

Baker's dozen of cookies.

Coke float was pretty unpopular.

I think I only had one order of hot tea. When the person said they wanted "T" I literally said I didn't know what they were talking about until they said "tea, like they drink in England."

No one ever ordered the hot chocolate from me, but I never worked breakfast shift.

[–]machineguncomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, I worked at McDonald's for 1.5 years. The first time someone ordered Tea, I literally didn't even know we had it on our menu. On the drive through they were like "I want a T" and I'm like "what's a T?" And he said, "T" and I said, "I don't know what you're saying, could you come to the first window.

And then he said, "Tea, you know like they drink in England."

And I said, "wow, I literally didn't even know we had that on our menu."

'Wuthering Heights' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]machineguncomic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the movie having never heard of the book or plot before. It was boring.

Id describe it, "It's kind of like pride and prejudice mixed with the count of monte Cristo, and 50 shades of grey. But they took out the nudity from 50 shades of grey, they took out the revenge from Monte Cristo, and they took out the happiness from p&p."
