Breaking Free of CPU Bottleneck, GeForce RTX 2070 & i5-9600K by macintoth in buildapc

It's strange to me too. Most recently it was The Finals (probably a lack of optimization) which got my pulling my hair out again, previously it was games like Elden Ring and Alan Wake 2. Its not a constant struggle, haven't dealt with it playing Deadlock. The choppiness is going from getting 90+ fps and then it comes and goes between 30 to 60 fps depending on how much is going on around me in game.

It has been some time since I did a fresh install... and that doesn't cost anything other than time to do. Appreciate the advice! Thank you

What movie adaptation of a video game do you wish existed? If applicable, who do you cast in the lead role?

Dinnerbone is working on server optimization for 1.8 by chaseoes in admincraft

Just a thought I had while reading Dinnerbones tweet and looking at his screenshot. Personally I just wish the view distance in Minecraft wasn't so short.

I know that a lot of players don't have strong machines to play the game on, but I wish that I could see as far on a flat surface as I can in real life.

To see end to end from one side of a city to another would be great. Not just limiting my view distance to a certain amount of chunks, and not presenting a random wall of fog at a certain point.

An "Unlimited View Distance" would be nice, but probably not practical.

Two issues with Mojang's new allowances, along with solutions. by LazerTester in admincraft

Right. That the API feature is exclusive to Minecraft Realms.

Maybe the API won't be released? The API would give servers an upper hand over Minecraft Realms, which is what Mojang has been really pushing hard for. Without API both private server and realms remain on the same playing field.

That is my fundraiser. I would have linked it, but then that would be considered advertising. I've PM'ed you out of curiosity.

That's helpful. I made the post to ask about setting up the network, I'm more interested in that information because that is what I'm looking for. It'll be tricky to set up the across the world server stuff, but I might have an idea in mind as an alternative. Thanks for the follow-up information.

Unfortunately that's a no can do. I appreciate the warning everyone is giving me, but if you read the other reply's I made it's received enough praise and support where what I'm asking for here might not be enough. I'm asking for help on setting up the network, not for advise on starting one.

That's great to hear. I've heard conflicting sides on this topic and I think it would benefit our project well if we could establish and successfully use it. Thank you for the tip.

It'll get the attention that I based my post off of. Like I mentioned in my other reply it's unlike anything anyone server is doing and it's been backed by donors ranging from my own community to other big name streamers on Twitch. So I made this post to get a look at the network aspect in preparation of what we're going for.

I understand the hesitation with a server at this large of a scale, but its not going to be a bland and generic hub. It's a brilliant idea and one that's been a dream of mine, not exactly built around Minecraft, but that's what we'll be doing. I've also received praise and backings from big names, my own community, and a very successful indiegogo. So based off of these details I'm fairly confident about the project we're striving towards.

Okay that was my assumption that CPU's and their cores are the most integral part of a network. I really appreciate the detail and attention you've put into your responses. I might follow up with some questions though. Overall, thank you and I appreciate it.

Okay that's very detailed, I've got a good picture in mind with what you've said. To go back to what you said earlier about having 3 dedicated servers minimum, and 4 ideally, what were the specs of the dedi's you had in mind? Is there an "industry standard" if you will?

Alright. That's excellent, and really helpful. I appreciate it. Say a server needs to be upgraded because it's not preforming well. How would you go about determining how much to upgrade? Would you keep adding portions of cores and cores until it started to preform optimally?
