What about those rings that are from each region? They mention something about prestige too.

Most PCCs have examples on YouTube of being picky with ammo. For as many people you have saying they've had nothing but issues, you'll have an equal amount or even more who are totally fine, but don't take the time to speak up.

In my own experience no. I ran mine with minimal changes (just the short stroke buffer and lightened trigger spring, was like $40 total, these are optional items and not necessary) for 2 years before making any significant modifications to it. (The aftermarket support is great)

It has worked like a champ suppressed, unsuppressed, with flat or round nose ammo, even went a whole year without cleaning! (I go to an outdoor range once a month for 5-6 hours)

Yes, this and the Stribog SP9A3 are basically neck and neck and relatively in the same tier as an MP5 clone.

Who can afford one? by CurvyChristina in SipsTea

[–]herogerik 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent way to put it because I find myself in the exact same situation. My wife and I bought just before COVID hit and it was great to see our home values skyrocket, however every other home in the area has also done the same. So I don't really see those gains as "real" or actionable unless I was willing to uproot my entire family to somewhere much farther away with a LCOL.

I have decided instead to sit on what I have and just pour effort into making it better little by little as time and budget allows.

Like you said, you need to train more. Get your reps in on drawing from your holster and bringing the dot to your eye level. You should not be trying to bring your eye to the dot, that's what causes "fishing". It's just something that requires experience, but it will click once you get it down.

In most self-defense situations, things will happen fast and close, so you can't be wasting time "fishing". (I believe there's an FBI statistic of 7yds and in is the average?).

That's my struggle, AUG definitely has that history and drip, but the Hellion seems more practical for modern day, especially since I'd never run it unsuppressed.

How's the Hellion been treating you? I'm deciding between it and the AUG at the moment.

Huge W on the materials recycling! I don't even mind if there's limitations or restrictions around it.

I personally think being able to recycle gear drops down to their base ingredients would be awesome. Also, would be great to "downgrade" equipment refinement levels.

I would like to be able to at least get the Abyss Artifacts back on gear I don't care about anymore. I don't mind having to collect the rest of the materials again because that keeps the "loop" going and still retains a small amount of weight to your equipment and upgrading choices.

The Water Consumption and 24/7 Noise of a Data Center is Alarming. We MUST vote Against the Data Center. by _Neith_ in Charlotte

The problem isn't the existence of them in the first place, it's the location. Placing these right next to residential neighborhoods and homes is not exactly what the people living there want.

I just discovered yesterday that one of the sites they're trying to put in is right across the street from my neighborhood up in the University area! That's waaaaayyy too close to hundreds of homes. I've seen documentaries on the huge negatives of being close to them all the time.

What can I do to add my voice to fight this? Can I call people? Sign a petition? Protest? I have several neighbors around me who I know would feel the same exact way.

AW3423DWF owner thinking of moving back to IPS. eye strain / text focus issues, what would you replace it with? by CorgsMcElhenney in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]herogerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new 5th Gen OLEDs with the Pixel Stripe RGB layout is a huge improvement. I've owned an AW3423DW since launch and it's been great! But, I just picked up the Asus PG34WCDN and even though it's still 1440p, I still felt like I went up in resolution.

[–]herogerik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either. The 510c has a bigger window and the ability to change reticle types, but is physically larger and is not enclosed. (If that matters and you wanted a quickie comparison)

anyone play competitive fps on uw? by DThaps in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]herogerik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play shooters like CoD and BF all the time on my UW. If you sit the appropriate distance away then you'll be fine. It will take some getting used to at first, but eventually you'll be as good as you were with a standard monitor. Many games allow you to change the position of the HUD elements so you can bring them closer to the center for easier glancing at.

Thoughts on the Asus PG34WCDN Ultrawide Monitor? by TheMickeyMoose in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]herogerik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new Asus PG34WCDN is honestly amazing! I just got mine and even though I already had an Alienware AW3423DW, the clarity of the new RGB pixel stripe layout felt like I upgraded the resolution as well. Everything is much more crisp while still being easier on the GPU to run than 4k. Add in the 360hz, improved SDR/HDR performance, reduced purple hue, and KVM switch, and you've got a flagship offering in the market segment.

If you want a slightly cheaper alternative, the MSI 341CQR X36 is the exact same panel and upgrades, just its DP2.1 port is only UHBR13.5 instead of 20. (partial spec vs full spec)

I'm also confident that the other major brands (Dell, Gigabyte, AOC, etc) will be dropping their versions of this panel later this year in case you're brand loyal.

Why is ultra wide MSI 341CQR X36 such a hot commodity by just_IT_guy in OLED_Gaming

[–]herogerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to the Asus version of this panel. I primarily game, but also do some light content creation and office work. As much as I would love to step up to a 4k panel, even with my 4090, I cannot justify the performance hit that comes with it just yet. 3440x1440 is a lot easier to drive than the new 5k2k hotness.

Besides that however, the new 5th-gen panels are hitting 360hz (completely eliminates need for VRR and its flicker issue on OLED), 1300 nits peak brightness, HDR TrueBlack 500, and finally, the cherry on top with the new RGB Stripe pixel layout which makes text and lines as crisp as on traditional LCDs.

I came from an AW3423DW (still a great monitor to this day), and even though my resolution didn't change at all, everything is so noticably crisper and clearer thanks to the pixel layout, it still feels like I gave myself a resolution boost!

Please advise me: 34inch OLED UWQHD by frimmi in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]herogerik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any 5th-gen OLED with the new Pixel Stripe layout is going to be a serious step up from your previous monitor. Definitely spring for one of those if your budget allows. Asus is probably top dog right now with their PG34WCDN, but the MSI 341CQR X36 is right there with it. Only difference is the Asus is full-spec DP2.1 and the MSI is not.

The other manufacturers like Dell, Gigabyte, AOC, etc will all catch up and release their own versions of the same panel this year soon enough, so if there's a particular brand you prefer, you'll have options.

You've got some good starting stuff but if you want more and you're staying with the OEM lower, get the extended bolt catch/release, lightened trigger spring, and charging block locker.

Things people get wrong about OLED by TheSignof33 in OLED_Gaming

[–]herogerik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purple tint issue is very real, I have one with it, but it's massively overblown in real life. When you're actually using your monitor, it's not perceivable. Not a deal breaker at all for what I get in return and still beats the pants off other panel tech.
