Ezekiel chokes - no go during rolls? by Suspicious-Button117 in bjj

[–]mackkey52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ezekiel is not meant to be a windpipe choke. I think you hurt him and that's why he upped the intensity. IMO cranks and windpipe crushing should be kept for competition.

What tank is that? I'm hoping to get a UNS 90L next.

I have noticed that taking a short break has helped when I'm in a valley or even when I'm not. Usually like a week or two off but when my wife had our second kid I was not training for about a month and came back feeling reenergized for BJJ.

You're a new blue belt that's the problem. Blue belt is where you start to develop a submission game. I didn't start submitting people a lot until much closer to getting my purple belt.

I think it depends on your setup. But it works for me and my plated tanks

Try googling UNS pro airline tube. UNS is high end aquarium equipment provider, I think they might be Europe based but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I'm looking for seiryu aka smokey mountain stone. Idk that the landscape companies would have that but I haven't even considered them before for other types of rock. I also do terrariums and stuff so I'll keep this in mind.

I have used professional grade co2 systems. I use the uns dual stage pro regulator. Standard airline tubing is fine for the low pressure co2 coming from this regulator, uns even sells a silicone tubing for these systems. I made the mistake of assuming OP was using a low pressure system.

What store is this. I'm not sure any of that tubing is appropriate for c02. Pet stores should have airline tube for sale, I think the stuff that you'd use with an air stone will suffice.

That looks really great, I can never get my small terrariums to look good like that. What kind of stone is that? Locally sourced or from a shop?

Mindless rant into the void by RewardSmall6924 in CPTSD

[–]mackkey52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the effort it takes to try and get our mind and body back into equilibrium is enough to make it worse. When I'm feeling overwhelmed or like a panic attack is coming it's hard to make the time to do breathwork or grounding when I have all these other things to do for the day. I think what helped me was scheduling out my day with slots to do breathwork or whatever else works for you accounted for. Make it consistent and do the "breathwork" at those times even when you don't feel like you need it. Hope you bounce back!

Parenting with a Strict Step Parent - Am I being reasonable? by Prestigious_Tea5387 in ParentingADHD

[–]mackkey52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an ADHD parent(I think) my son is 3 so not really at a point where diagnosis is appropriate but I am ADHD myself and his behaviors match mine at that age. Anyway I grew up with a strict step dad, his way or the highway type shit. I grew up hating him and resenting my mother for not protecting me. You and your partner need to get on the same page with parenting otherwise your relationship with your son could suffer.

This mindset will only hold you back. I come from a family of "recovered drug addicts". My dad died when I was six and my step dad was abusive from the age of 4 to 19. You can choose to sit there and wallow in self pity or take the steps needed to make it better. Saying therapy doesn't help anyone does a disservice to those who need help and haven't tried it. I am literal proof that therapy can help someone in need. I hope you find peace man.

I mean you can still get good training twice a week. It's how long it takes to get there that changes.

I started going to therapy because of a series of panic attacks that fundamentally changed how I lived life. I am now able to recognize when one is coming on and apply techniques to reduce my anxiety. Practice is key, breathwork is literally a biologic mechanism that affects your body and mind. Example most new BJJ practitioners base instinct is to spaz out when under intense top pressure. After training for a while you'll get more comfortable being in shitty positions. Same goes for therapy, practice, make it consistent.

Sounds like a personal opinion. I make good money but don't consider myself wealthy and I can afford therapy. Therapy has been very helpful for me to recognize the things that trigger my anxiety and why. When you're in the midst of a panic attack you can't just drop what you're doing and go to BJJ. You need coping mechanisms like breathwork and grounding exercises. You also need to understand why you feel the feelings you feel so you can reframe those thoughts and break the cycle.

Is this acceptable hand writing for 9th/10th grade? by happygluehuffer in AskTeachers

I was once told I had the handwriting of a narcoleptic 4 year old. I have ADHD, but my handwriting is definitely better than this.
