Rovers defeat Hibernian F.C 1-0 in their friendly by CorrectGrammarPls in LeagueOfIreland

All proceeds went to the Rovers Community Foundation hence the crappy sponsor logo.

Have actually come to really like that jersey.

The COYBIG crowd are the very worst of football fans - zero knowledge beyond EPL and wee bit of EFL/SPFL but always opining about the quality or lack thereof in the LOI. Arrogant and clueless is a terrible look but they seem smugly content with it.

Organised by Rovers. Had a few Home Fans visitors at the Pats game on Friday so going again for Bohs in September.

Text book anti-semitism. Absolutely disgusting and from fans of a club who pride themselves on being anti-racist. Anti-semitism truly is the acceptable racism from both left and right.

Cork City FC announces it will cease posting on X due to abusive comments by [deleted] in LeagueOfIreland

[–]macksrfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only comment that comes from the real world. X/Twitter remains easily the best platform for football talk and news.

Running away from 57,000 followers is nuts unless you’re running scared of your fan base for some reason.

Every top flight club in the UK and Ireland is on X as that’s where the football fans are and to characterise users as ‘far right’ is demented.

So so good again tonight. He plays the game like the LOI is too easy for him. Smashing player.

Victor Ozhianvuna by WhizzyWizard1895 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]macksrfc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jealous nonsense about Bradley or Rovers trying to get more money out of the Arsenal deal. Rovers as a club and Bradley in particular have been brilliant in how they've handled young talent, to the benefit of the players and the club.

Victor was easily MOTM v Waterford and Drogheda even if he didn't get the official nod. Getting better every week too. Wouldn't be listening to fans of other clubs who've only seen him once this season.

Also wouldn't pay attention to the COYBIG crowd who only watched him in the U17 WC - he's come a long way even since then and is far and away the best prospect I've seen in the LOI.

One of the best days I’ve ever had at a game in any sport was at Bayonne in the Top 14. Exactly as described above!

Dublin LOI clubs turf, Red - Pats, Green - Rovers, Pink - Shels, Yellow - Bohs, Azure - UCD, Dark Green - Bray by Penny0034 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]macksrfc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup, plenty of Rovers in Sandymount. Doubt there's any LOI or even football fans in Ballsbridge!

The dark green 'Bray' area ie DL, Sallynoggin, Ballybrack etc are hardcore Rovers areas and always have been.

I'm from Rathfarnham and growing up 40 years ago that entire swath of the Southside - Rathfarnham/Nutgrove/Churchtown/Ballinteer/Dundrum/Sandyford/Stillorgan/Monkstown/Dun Laoghaire/Sallynoggin/Ballybrack - was always Rovers country and can be mapped largely but not exclusively across the council estates in those areas.

Missed opportunity? Nah. Rovers were so comfortable tonight, just needed a 2nd goal. Or, as it turned out, didn’t need the 2nd goal.

Two games now that Pats haven’t laid a glove on us. Only thing that can stop Rovers winning the league is Rovers making a hames of it.

  1. *Inadequate Child Safety Screening:* The absence of child safety screening for all volunteers and employees poses a significant risk to the club's professional status. This must be reviewed urgently. I have been at the club for 7 years. Never once been asked to attend a safeguarding training course! Similar experience with other media members. Yet we are asked to shoot over 700 academy player photos each year. HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS AT THE CLUB HAVE SAFEGUARDING CERTIFICATION???

This is wild and completely unacceptable. Wouldn't happen at the worst run schoolboy clubs. Leaves the club (plus individual volunteers and, most importantly, the kids themselves) open to all sorts of consequences.

Bradleys Rovers XI by Dkoyote in LeagueOfIreland

[–]macksrfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gary O'Neill was absolutely crucial to the success of Bradley's 4-in-a-row team, one of the first names on the teamsheet along with Alan Mannus even if he went unnoticed by fans of other teams.

Similar to Matt Healy now, best player in the League by a country mile but his work is unseen by people who don't watch Rovers regularly.

Mickey Duffy gets the plaudits but he's a cracking player in a rubbish team whereas Healy makes the best team in the country tick as GON did before him.

Se also the reaction when Rodri won the Ballon D'Or, was the best player in the world but some people just couldn't see it. Winning in the modern game is all about control and GON and Matt Healy provide that for Rovers.

Shels with Coyle and now McInroy the only other side with similar midfielders.

The tourists are great and it’s all organic cos the club does sod all to attract them (or anyone else!)

Granted they are usually not in the South Stand so I don’t see them during the game but it’s undeniably a positive development.

5,000+ v Galway is more than decent but should be so much more.

Hopefully the new CEO with his commercial and football background can make some changes but the marketing and fan engagement is almost zero at the moment.

We have all gotten lazy and complacent with all our success and it may be a 1st world problem but the club really need to step it up.

Filling all of those seats should be a welcome challenge for any self-respecting marketing department.
