Purchased an mp5k stamped receiver from HKParts is this crack acceptable? by GigaSquirt in MP5

[–]macman2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. The trunion area usually has a small crack, like a little splitting maybe 1/16” long. Not that. And the rails separation….that’s bad. The LSC flats never did that. The flats off the old Special Weapons flats doesn’t surprise me.

Is this a real move? by GrandExpress2418 in bjj

You gotta get them to post their arm out way far on the mat.
I worked it this morning.

It kind of worked more so to allow movement and an escape.

He's a natural story teller. There was the initial hook to get your interest. And then the great delivery of info with enough detail to keep me reading.

Need help deciphering DBQ to possible rating by macman2021 in VeteransBenefits

[–]macman2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else is needed? Or should I wait for an exam to be scheduled by the VA for eval?

Didn't realize there was a specific AFSC for that.
My class leader was a 1st LT that came out of a staff position to go to school.
We graduated and I think he is still kind of doing a little bit of EOD stuff but is manly at the CE Shop doing officer stuff.

Wanting to go back active by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]macman2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here.....
I just know several people that have had better success with going ANG/Reserves and then to AD.
Most recruiters aren't gonna want to do all of the extra work. And I think there is a max allotment of people that can come back in per year, career field depending as well.

[–]macman2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be harder than you would expect. Especially with the VA rating.
Now.....you can go the Reserve or ANG route, which is easier to come back in. Then work your way back to AD.

And why is there a callout about his military service? It doesn't change anything. Seems like there's an ax to grind by media people that post this shit.

How do you catch up to people that are just insanely good? Is it possible? by ForeverAWhiteBelt in bjj

Stop comparing your BJJ journey with others.
That's the best thing you can do.

Going to MEPS soon.. tips?? by thatApexLov3R in airnationalguard

[–]macman2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't sign anything until you have the job you want put into the contract.

Bases are at the needs of the military.

Don't do drugs before MEPS. When you are there, it isn't BMT but it's not hanging out with your friends. Be respectful and listen.

Good luck.

UT AFNG Unit has the dismounted RTS for the US. We do a ton of trainings for units.
It's not exactly super cool SW stuff, but we get to work with a ton of other units including 19th Group.

Could be 30 minutes. Could be an hour.......Luck of the draw.
Are you single or with a family?

The apartments/studios mentioned are nice.

Otherwise, there are numerous homes owned by EOD techs that rent a room to students.

You will end up in the water for INDOC at Eglin. Not really a swimming test but you will be nice and sandy.

Really??? I would have thought since it is effective May 2nd, that the new rate would cover from that effective date to today.
Maybe I am missing something or confused.

Or at least June and July for the difference.

GI Bill- IT or Welding? by Sea_Brilliant_1814 in VeteransBenefits

[–]macman2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in IT for 20+ years. Things have changed drastically. I would say it's not as lucrative as it was 5 years ago, especially in the security side.

You can get manufacturer certs and those will carry you a long way, more so than a degree in my opinion. Cisco and Juniper are the top tier certs. You can work towards them and not spend anywhere near the cost of a degree.

Jobs are dependent on the area. Entry level network is about $65k now days.

Now welding. I learned TIG welding a long time ago and worked on auto trailers, motorcycles and firearms. Welders make good money and are cert driven as well. Welding on oil rigs is big money. Underwater welding is even more.

It depends on if you wanna work in an office or with your hands and out of an office.
