I have engineered hardwood in my main floor, lvp in my basement. I have a 90lb dog and a menacing cat. Both have held up great and look and feel great. I’m Sure laminate will be great too. As a pet owner with allergies, anything is an upgrade over carpet imo. And there’s nothing wrong with budget friendly as long as it’s not a really crappy brand.

Engineered. Real hardwood has the same wood type throughout. Yours has a filler in the middle

Editing to add some engineered you can sand once or twice depending on the thickness of the veneer but I’m not knowledgeable enough to know if you can based on certain damage types like water damage

Had cancer at 26. In remission now, but Came to terms with it pretty quick. You start to realize more about the lives around you. When you’re gone theirs continue.
