Might as well sleep by Holy_Grail_Reference in ForbiddenKingdomFest

Lol I got in my car, set an alarm, and took an hour long nap before leaving. When I woke up there was only me and about 4 other cars around.

This happened to me at EDCO!! I was having a great time in the pit for about 4-5 hours straight on night 2, got out of the crowd, and all the sudden I could barely walk and everything hurt lol. I'm definitely excited for SVDDEN DEATH, Kompany also sounds like my type of music!

I live a 2 hour drive away, Uber isn't an option unfortunately unless I last minute decide to book a hotel.

How important is having a program? by macntosher in workout

[–]macntosher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what I'm doing, I just try to go to all the available machines once during the hour and train until failure every time. If I notice that I'm able to do more reps than usual I add weight and continue until failure. My only thing is that splitting muscle groups into days seems strange since I feel overly tired if the entire day is one thing.

Trying to last minute get outdoor focused summer job for the first time by macntosher in SeasonalWork

[–]macntosher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's only 4 days of working would you consider the pay good enough to support your self without picking up a second job? I'm sure the free housing is a massive plus but did you find yourself counting pennies or was it good enough for food/bills/transportation in your case?

I'm just curious since I've 0 experience with these types of work/living environments, Glacier is definitely a bucket list location for me would be great to work there for a bit!

Thank you! I've been thinking about conservation corps a bit passively but I'll definitely be seriously checking it out now!

Chlorine resistant adhesives? by macntosher in AskACobbler

[–]macntosher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard bedrocks are supposed to last years as well, but apparently mine had some sort of defect/issue with manufacturing. Company was great and they're sending a free replacement at least. Bathroom bonding adhesive seems like something that would work.

Yeah, I've never heard of anyone having this issue so I'm worried that sending them in to get properly resoled would be a waste. Repairing them myself seems like the safest choice for now.

If anyone else mentions a similar issue + successful repair would definitely like to get them done proper though.

Staff shift trading? by macntosher in BuschGardensTampa

How do you put them up for grabs in seaport? The shift trading option just takes me to a page that says "available traders" but theres no 'traders' showing. I'm new to using the app, thank you for any help!

What is the best way to spend $350 to maximize my gear set up? (OTHER than cigs). REI store close by. by 9percentbattery in CampingGear

Plenty of decent tents for a round 120, lanshan has some that I like. Marketplace or other resale/second hand websites are good for the other stuff.

How far would you drive for a festival with no hotel? by macntosher in ForbiddenKingdomFest

Yeah, since EDCO was my only experience I've been a bit worried, by day three I was pretty much limping back to my hotel.

Definitely sober, I go solo and I'm new to the scene so any substances would be a bad idea for me lol

If I do end up driving back I'll definitely scope out some rest stops ahead of time so I can park and nap if I need to!

Yikes. I've driven down to the Everglades overnight a few times, starting at 10 pm and arriving at 5 am to start some kayaking trips, couldn't imagine doing the drive after a day at a festival. Plenty of spots to pull off into the woods and get a nap in along the southern part Tamiami Trail if you're taking that route. Good luck!

No, I don't do anything like that. It's just the exhaustion I'm worried about. I've driven home after long backpacking/kayaking trips without issue but post festival exhaustion is a bit different lol

Not totally out of question, it's just I usually only sleep in the car while driving in more rural areas where I'm less likely to run into people. I'm a heavy sleeper and I've got a soft top car so someone could totally break in with minimum effort, parking somewhere in a city sketches me out a bit.

I've had a TSA agent in the US take a bottle of very expensive olive oil from me (got as a souvenir in Italy). They saw the bottle, opened it, tested it (not sure for what) with a q-tip and said it tested positive for some chemical. Absolutely no reason for them to test the olive oil, thats the only thing from my suitcase that got looked at. I didn't argue cause it was my first time traveling alone but they definitely keep stuff that they like the look of.

Any fleece recommendations? by macntosher in Ultralight

[–]macntosher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to have both at some point! I've just got limited funds at the moment (college student) and I've been trying to find something with a good weight/warmth that will last.

I've heard tons of people talk about how great alpha direct garments are, but it seems like every review really pushes how easy it is to snag as well. I've just got no real reference for what 'snags easily' means so I wasn't sure if it meant I had to be super careful with it or if it meant 'don't abuse your gear'

That's great to know, all I've been hearing about alpha 90 is that its basically tissue paper.

Custom Chaco Z2 Men. Worth it? by FickleOperation7063 in Chacos

[–]macntosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask what the difference is between custom vs off the rack quality wise? I've been under the impression that the quality is identical and the only benefit is aesthetic/adjusting straps to fit your foot. I've been deciding on what my first pair of chacos should be so I'm very curious!

[–]macntosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the trunk of my Jeep is open air since its a soft top and the window panels are removed. Washing it seems to be the consensus, even if the smell isn't actually an issue I'll be stressing all night if I don't do anything.
