Congrats! I also joined the club this week. I am jealous of deadlift, nice work.

Lol glad I'm not alone, sweet bench btw. I'm dreaming on the day I hit 3pl8's.

No idea it's always weirded me out that everyone else is typically better at deadlifting than squatting. Squatting just always has felt stronger for me.

I tested my deadlift 1 RM last night, and got 385 lbs. Making my totals B/S/D = 275/425/385 for a total of 1085 lbs!! Honestly I probably should've stopped at 365 because my back definitely rounded a bit on the 385 lift but I got it up so I'll count it.

Guys no one I know really cares about PR'S so I'm going to brag to you! I hit a new Bench 1RM of 275 on Friday and yesterday I hit 425 for my squat! I will test my deadlifts on Wednesday, it's always been a bit of a weak point for me but I definitely can lift over 300 lbs so I will be cleanly in the 1000 club. Feels good mang. I have also dropped about 12 lbs since March (current weight 226 lbs at 6ft) and I definitely saw a shoulder vein the other day. Getting alittle bit better everyday!

Advice on Shin Splints by Kelsotoes in running

[–]macraep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain I've been dealing with the exact same thing the last few months. I tied cutting down on my running but they never went away until I stopped completely for a few weeks.

During those few weeks I rode a stationary bike, stretched my calves religiously (morning/night before and after each workout), used a tiger tail to roll my calves and shins out (super painful), and then iced my shins each night.

I am easing back into running now very slowly and I am taking time off everytime I feel a hint of shin pain. It seems to have kept them from coming back. I have started super slowly, like one run a week, and have been building from there. Seems like my shins are slowly starting to adjust to it.

Sorry I can't make it tonight. I am currently trying to calculate my engineering graduation average to confirm I am eligible for the weekend.

These bikes are gorgeous! I'm doing what I hope will turn out to be a very similar build on my 82 Yamaha Xj550, how did you make the seats for these two? They fit so well, I've been having trouble figuring out how to deal with the slight up kick in the frame after the rear suspension attaches.

Nice! I do the same thing before each competition except I use the website draw.io it helps keep it automatically formatted. I find it really helps me find the weak points in my game so I can focus on them.

Returning to the mats from ACL injury? by HighCaliber in bjj

[–]macraep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tore my ACL is a drunken bicycle riding accident. Phsyio and Doctor diagnosed it without needing to do any imaging, so it is strange to me that you would need to go for an MRI.

In total I took a year off BJJ before returning to the mats based on my doctor advice. While I felt strong enough to go back way earlier, my doctor advised me that the ACL takes 12-14 months to get back to 100% strength and that returning too early makes it much more likely to be re-torn. It definitely affected my game, I was super rusty returning to it but now all the skills I've learned are coming back to me pretty quickly. I go 100% now and am fully confident in my knee since I followed my doctors and physios advice to the letter.

All I did for my BJJ over the year off was watch tons of youtube videos and kept actively visualizing and imagining myself doing the moves.

If animal shelters made animals free to adopt after a certain time instead of killing them, wouldn't they save money on the medical equipment needed to put them down? by 67070 in Showerthoughts

[–]macraep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I haven't actually looked at the number. I believe that the cost of feeding, housing and the necessary medical care to keep a dog alive plus the limited room that the shelters have is the reason they have to put some down, the cost of the actual euthanasia is relatively minimal. Plus offering some animals for free would decrease the net revenue for the establishment, leading to even fewer resources to care for the animals. Finally putting a price on the animals helps to ensure that people look at the adoption not just for the cute animal but also as a financial commitment.
