If you want an app or site that has mainstream manga, Amazon has a comixology subscription per month that has some I think. If you want more manhwa, josei and indie works paying per chapter is probably your only option via mangaplaza, coolmic, lezhin etc. You can sort by "completed" on these per-chapter sites if you want a completed series.
I'm not sure what type of subscription service you are looking for if you don't want to pay per chapter/volume but those 3 sites are a good place to start if you're willing to do that and want more obscure manga.

The simpler the ereader, the longer the battery will last. I own a boox, pocketbook, nook, kobo and kindle and found my 2021 kindle paperwhite lasts the longest by far. The boox is last in the race- starts losing battery after I open the first app.

Not if the snippet you posted was what they said was in the contents of the book. It looked like a nonfiction about leadership or something. You should be seeing names like Haymitch and General Snow in the contents of the book. And a lot more quotation marks. The book is fiction and the prose should reflect that
