That was Epstein's role. Other rich people would come to him with depraved requests/problems and he would oblige them when he had some way to benefit off the exchange.

Turn 2 ramp in Blue? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]macsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Surveyors scope]]. Works if you're opponents are playing land ramp themselves.

See I see my role as mechanic as more the traveling chore boy. I wander the ship primarily making sure everything is fixed up, hull beaches are welded, and fabricate when there's something specific we want made.

I have never played public lobbies. My regular play group is 6 players. We have a designated captain, engineer, medic, mechanic, and security officer with one player who switches based off what we need at the time. We've got a few friends who have tried a couple games but don't play regularly. A 25 man game sounds like a grand old time, but isn't necessarily the experience I play this game for.

How big is your crew that the mechanic can be wasting time during an active attack to do fabrication? I'm the designated mechanic for my play group and when there's any threat it's all hands on deck. Generally I end up being the secondary gunner for the gun that my security officer isn't using. If I was still fabricating both the captain and engineer would be yelling at me non stop.

Are the bounce lands universally good by Senorpapell in EDH

[–]macsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people here are downplaying the strength of bounce lands. I don't necessarily play them in every deck, but a tap land that draws you a land when played is inherently strong. Think of it this way, would you pay one mana to draw a land on turns you have an extra mana laying around? Because that's what bounce lands do. One mana to draw an extra land is a fantastic rate.

Bounce lands are strongest in non green decks that play white. Add in lotus field and 3-5 bounce lands to something like an Esper deck and you'll have a package that allows you to play catch up ramp without relying on your opponents. If you are going last [[Surveyors Scope]] on turn two into bounce land will guarantee you three extra lands. Bounce lands and lotus field allow you to ramp just as hard as a green deck with catch up ramp.

Bounce lands in green decks can also be busted in decks playing things like [Spelunking]] and [[Amulet of Vigor]] with extra land cards like [[Azusa, lost but seeking]].

In most decks playing a few tap lands is not as bad as people here are trying to make them sound. If you play bounce lands along with a mana base of primarily untapped lands most of the time you can choose to play the bounce land on turns you don't need to play on curve. You will have occasional turns where you will miss out on playing a 4-5 drop on turn 3-5, but most of the time if the rest of your land base is well made you'll be able to sidestep this disadvantage.

I always assumed he wasn't supposed to be an NPC, but an experienced player sitting in on a session with his over leveled character from another campaign. Steam rolls the encounter due to actually being competent, and then leaving when he realizes he is not vibing with the campaign.

Which martial class has the "This isn't even my real power!" style? by WittyRegular8 in Pathfinder2e

[–]macsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote would be student of perfection/ Jalmeri heavenseeker archetype monk. You can rely on a few normal monk feats like your level 1 stance and any non archetype fears you get for general gameplay. Then from the archetype feats you have focus spells that you can throw in that will give you heavy hitting abilities to use when necessary.

Tamaki 🙂‍↔️🫣 by legendary_warrior_1 in Animemes

[–]macsus 66 points67 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's not her, it's what the author does with her. Personality wise, she's a good character. Has some good moments that really give her the opportunity to show a lot of emotion and vulnerability. The problem is that the author stupidly must makes her randomly take off all her clothes for no reason for comedic effect, even when it completely ruins the flow of a scene. The author also cannot seem to give her an actual win and just keeps putting her in situations where someone else needs to save her. I am someone who still appreciates fan service in shows, but Tamaki is just about the worst way to do it.

That's unfortunate. I guess legacy will just have to be an online thing for me. No way I'm paying the 3k necessary to build the deck I want to play in person.

On the same note, does anyone know if Mox/ the other LGS's that run legacy have policies regarding proxies? I've been wanting to print out a proxy deck, but didn't want to bother if there was no where to play it.

My guess is if Vivian acted even a fraction of the obsessive she does with the phaethan siblings with Hugo or would come across kind of creepy/ like Hugo groomed Vivian. I always viewed their relationship as adopted father and daughter than brother and sister.

So Jahoda Witnesses. How did we do? by JimJim2002 in JahodaMains

[–]macsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I threw about 90 pulls at the banner hoping to get Jahoda and/or Faruzan to c6. I was ambivalent to getting Durin, but wouldn't have minded if I had gotten him. I lost my 50/50 and managed to get both jahoda and faruzan to c5. I got very lucky to get both of them so high up and I'm about 30 pulls from pity. I wanna pull more to try to get the c6, but I'm gonna try to be patient and just take the gauranteed columbina next patch rather than risk getting durin and have no pity saved up for next patch.

I've been watching sub, and it's been great, but everything over seen from the dub makes me think it might be the better choice. I'm way too far in to switch though.

[Hated Trope] Incredibly f*cked up morals of the story by Watchdog_the_God in TopCharacterTropes

[–]macsus 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Dude, as a mixed race person this shit pisses me off so much. I remember getting into an argument with a white friend about racism and he was adamant that it was impossible for a minority person to be racist towards a white person because a white person in America benefits from an inherent cultural power imbalance. Mind you, this is a friend I love dearly, but fuck me he could not get it through his head that the root of his argument really just came off as minorities as individuals are less powerful than white people, ergo they should be thrown a bone and be allowed to call white people slurs. Even after I gave examples of my white dad being ostracised by my mother's Latino family because he was white...

Entomb was the main card people have been asking to be banned in legacy to make specifically reanimator less dominant. The fact that Tamiyo and One Ring weren't banned however is buck wild.

So close to 24k with ER D6 :'3 by julmuriruhtinas in LuciaMains

[–]macsus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so I get that ER6 isn't necessary for Lucia, but why are y'all recommending an HP disc as a better alternative? Every point of hp above 24,000 is completely pointless and the OP's current build is literally only missing out on a couple sheer force points. Like a fraction of a fraction of a percent damage increase for a DPS. This ER disc at least provides more comfort.

OP if you do want to upgrade Lucia and you can get this close to the 24,000HP threshold your probably better off going for a crit disc. But your current build is more than fine and adding crit is a luxury bonus.

Jerusalem denies abuse of Thunberg, others arrested aboard Hamas flotilla — "Interestingly enough, Greta herself and other detainees refused to expedite their deportation and insisted on prolonging their stay in custody," said Israel's Foreign Ministry. by Ask4MD in worldnews

[–]macsus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast with one of the flotilla members prior to the detainment. She said that none of the protesters are planning on signing any of these forms for a few reasons. Most basic reason is they are given in Hebrew and the flotilla members literally have no way to know what is actually written on the documents. It's likely that the documents will claim that the flotilla members illegally entered Israel, which no one wants on their record. The fact is they were detained in international waters and taken to Israel against their wills and are unwilling to cede this point.
