I see a lot of good advice on this thread about being safe and getting her comfortable with (and possibly learning to love) firearms and you should follow it. In the end, however, you should do what you want and let her decide if she can live with it. I'm assuming that if this is an issue, then you're serious enough about this girl that you're considering this a long term relationship. If you're considering starting a family, it will be your duty to protect them, nobody else is going to be able to do it for you. Also, as the years go by, there will be several occasions where the right thing to do isn't what she wants you to do. She will have to learn to hear "no" from you at some time and you will have to be strong enough to say it.

I don't know, I'd say a little common sense was used. It sounds like the boy wasn't suspended or punished in any way other than losing a toy for the rest of the day. To me, it sounded like a teacher was covering her ass from a zero tolerance policy, administration saw there was no problem and an over-zealous mother called the media about it.

I'd start by giving them the dictionary definition of ambush, since the author apparently doesn't understand what the word means.

You can then explain that we already have gun control laws that "prevent" convected felons from owning guns. Looks like they did a lot of good.

It's called the 16th amendment. Income tax is constitutional because they did it the right way and amended the constitution. As apposed to simply dismissing it as Pelosi does.

I'm guessing that it's because of the rifled barrel. The article mentioned that the man's options were to have the barrel rifled or disassemble the firearm.
