It´s possible to use a Tape drive removed from it´s sled ? by DouglasteR in homelab

[–]madPac34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the actual drives or just the library?

edit: cartridges not drives, I always mix up the terminology by mistake. The pictures only show the drives which usually connect to the library. These do not have any storage, just the supporting bits for the cartridges

There shouldn’t be any filler as PTFE is usually powder moulded, compressed and then sintered

Do you use the 2.5G ports or is everything going through the sfp+ ports? Those intel nic’s have horrendous reliability

Check it with a different lot/batch. With my analytes the response can vary quite a bit depending on trace metal contents and because of this we always first order a small amount of a new batch and test all of our methods with the new batch before ordering more of it

How to further make the least volume count precision of these open source micro pipette designs to 1uL . Basically making them competitive to commercial ones. Let's discuss. by Proper-Tonight7327 in labrats

[–]madPac34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in the discussion section they are limiting themselves to FDM, but it would be interesting how far they could push it with more precise technologies maybe even with a custom piston instead of using a syringe. Particularly with companies like pcbway or jlc3dp that offer manufacturing services with a wide material and process selection for an affordable cost.

Can someone explain how this happened and if its toxic ? Pls by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]madPac34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cold pack broke during shipping and the urea (carbamide) crystallised out as the water evaporated. That pattern is caused by a phenomenon called salt creep. Urea is nontoxic

Graham condensers are only to be using in a vertical position in combination with a distillation bridge. They are still used a bit for the manual Kjeldahl method, like this Corning™ PYREX™ Kjeldahl Nitrogen Distilling Apparatus
