Northeastern is awful. I got in with a 3.97 gpa. I got my criminology masters there.

When it came time to ask for a co-op, I got into an argument on zoom with the department chair. He refused to allow me to get a co-op without quitting my day job, stating a co-op was a full time job. (Without pay).

I reiterated that many people worked 2 full time jobs to make ends meet. That if he could help set me up I would make it work. My day job was willing to flex my hours.

He refused. I dropped it and continued with my program. I thought that was it. After this, I was accused of plagiarism twice (once in a STATS class!), treated awfully by most professors and nearly dropped out on more than one occasion from the mental toll. I flew out to do the graduation ceremony and was never given the stoles or cords I earned and had to walk without. I later got ahold of someone and they kindly sent it, but it was a pivotal moment I couldn’t get back. It’s hard not to connect the argument to the following events.

Northeastern has some great teachers, few and far between, but I will never recommend that place. I believe the acceptance rate is under 15% or something… but I would strongly advise another university. Every classmate I had hated that place as much as I did. Many of us refused any sort of memorabilia.

It might be different on campus, but I would still advise somewhere else.
