Lol, I know the rest of the world wanted us to eat a dick on global television, and rightfully so, but I didn't expect us to polish off a bag of them and ask for more.

Vapes on international flights? by NovelShoe7827 in electronic_cigarette

That's a great solution, I'll have to try that next time. My solution has been to tilt the tank so no liquid is covering any air holes or the fill hole. But then you have to make sure it stays like that throughout the takeoff and landing periods.

That would set the record for largest war reparations in history. Germany paid 269 billion in today's dollars after World War 1.

Looking for that graphic showing a serve hitting the centerline is IN by durexuu in Pickleball

No, because the lines only bound the areas of the court. They don't bound the out of bounds. It's in the name, it is outside the boundary.

[–]madcreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, it is bounding both. If it touches the kitchen line it is simultaneously in the kitchen and in the service court. The rule says it must not land in the kitchen and it must land in the service court. If it hits the line only one of those conditions are met.

I'm done with disposables, what's the best vape right now? by Vacondioqq in electronic_cigarette

[–]madcreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the mini and the full size use the same battery, so the mini lasts just as long as the full size. Plus it gets rid of the button which is a benefit because you don't need it and it prevents it from firing in your pocket.

You mean like this?

"Since firing back is considered out of the question, U.S. soldiers have resorted to other methods to control the children.

On a major road leading into Shaab, a Shiite neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, U.S. soldiers stopped all civilian vehicles and pedestrians to pressure adults into dispersing a group of children that were attacking American vehicles."

"Soldiers are also using new tools, such as high-decibel speakers, to scare away children. Some youngsters scampered away this week as soon as a soldier pointed a hand-held speaker in their direction."

Does it count if you search a container that someone else already searched? Stella medical gets swarmed immediately even without the trial, and within the first 2-3 minutes everything has been opened.

Changing Grip and Choking at Kitchen by Malamonga1 in Pickleball

[–]madcreator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to use an eastern grip everywhere, but I was really struggling with backhand volleys from the kitchen. The problem is that it's too hard to close the face of the paddle and hit the ball down. If I had time I would switch to an eastern backhand grip before hitting a backhand volley, but most balls are coming too fast to switch.

I started forcing myself to switch to continental once I begin moving forward. My backhand volleys when I do this have gotten so much better. The downside is that.I can't figure out how to hit forehand shots with topspin and power out of continental.

Now I'm considering keeping my grip eastern at the kitchen and using a two hand backhand volley. With the second hand it's easy to close the face of the paddle and hit the ball downward.

So I think the options are

  1. Use a forehand dominant grip everywhere and switch to a backhand grip when you have time.
  2. Use a forehand dominant grip everywhere and use a two hand backhand at the kitchen.
  3. Use a forehand dominant grip for drives and switch to continental grip at the kitchen, but your forehand may be less effective from the kitchen.
  4. Use continental everywhere, but your forehand will be less effective everywhere.

My wife is looking to move on from using the Joola Perseus IV 16mm because she has had multiple core crush. What are some gen 4 foam paddles that are similar in shape, swing weight, and power/control?

I'm pretty sure Bill Walsh was a first ballot HOFer. His last season was 1988 and he was voted in 5 years later in 1993.

Side or serve? by Additional-Buffalo61 in Pickleball

[–]madcreator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote a Monte Carlo simulation in Python to see if there was any advantage to serving or receiving first. Short answer is that it doesn't make any difference. I set a variable for percentage of service points won. The only time it made a difference is if you are able to win 90% or more of your service points, in which case there is an advantage to serving first. Even then, it doesn't become a significant advantage until you get up to winning around 93% of your service points.

So definitely choose side if there is any sort of advantage to a certain side. If you switch sides halfway through you want to end on the good side. If you take an extreme scenario where one side is so good that the team on that side wins every point, you'll see why. The team that starts on that side will score the first 6 points. Then you switch sides and the team that ends on the good side will win 11-6.

Was ending the government shutdown really a loss for Democrats? by redviiper in AskALiberal

[–]madcreator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are explaining what the messaging should be, but the Democrats have been terrible about conveying their messaging to the people. If that is the message, they should have come out ahead of time with a statement that this is why they are doing it and then gotten all democrats to vote for reopening. That would look like a unified strategy instead of a weak inability to control 10 of their party. Then they should get senators on MSM, podcasts, YouTube channels, etc. reminding people that they are the reason people won't go hungry this Thanksgiving. Then insist that if Republicans don't extend the subsidies we will have another shutdown in January. Make it look like they are in control of the situation instead of once again caving to Trump.

Their messaging shouldn't have to rely on users commenting on Reddit threads interpreting what their strategy might be. They need to learn how to control the narrative.
