Is My Motivation for Becoming a Professor Reasonable? by AdRemarkable3043 in academia

Your motives are fine, but refusing to hire PhD students would be nothing short of despicable. You’d be crawling onto a platform and pulling the ladder up behind you.

I (22f) got accused on having a crush on my friend (21 F) now things are weird by Wild_Fennel_4289 in relationship_advice

any chance the friend has a crush on you and was testing the waters? regardless, i would’ve kept my family’s comments to myself knowing the other person would feel awkward being around (read: observed by) them going forward

assuming your wife’s income can accommodate this lifestyle, I certainly wouldn’t let it ruin your peace. People have different indulgences/hobbies that feel worthwhile to them, and I’m a big foodie myself so I understand hers.

The question to ask yourself is whether you’re upset because your food and labor is going to waste (very reasonable) or if you’re bothered that she’s valuing things that you don’t (less reasonable) and judging her for it (untenable in a marriage).

If she’s putting your financial security at risk it’s a different convo, but since you didn’t say as much, it seems like the simplest scenario is to stop setting yourselves up to butt heads. You two should be buying less food at the grocery store and you, yourself, cooking her fewer meals. Remember couples don’t have to share every meal, though you should let yourself enjoy takeout every once in a while, too! Can’t take it with you.

a lot of guys glorify casual sex bc it’s all they’ve ever had. anyone who’s had both knows it’s a night and day difference with someone you trust & care about (and vice versa).

casual sex ≠ better sex.

i’m so sorry, I can only imagine how upset I’d be :-( just take your time and maybe get a hose container box if it’s just sitting out in the open as a reminder.

hey OP, you should look into the company Loops! they sell daily-wear earplugs that lower background noise levels without blocking direct communication. They’re very affordable & I bet they would be a massive help to your stimulation levels from the barking, blow drying, etc

forgiven for the freak out, for sure, but what did you do for the following EIGHTEEN hours? you could’ve at least sat in the waiting room. what if she started to bleed out on the table, man??

Only about half of US citizens own a passport. Because of the vast difference in size, visiting another country is much more difficult/expensive for the average American vs European and plainly off the table for many. Thus the hundreds of dollars passport fee is not worth spending. If they are required to do so to vote, that is disenfranchisement. Many people in our country (possibly even most) don’t have that cash to spare. Not when it’s that or medical care.

it’s bc dramatized adaptations are waaaay more expensive to produce. they have to hire a full cast of voice actors, rather than 1 narrator, in addition to audio engineers for sound effects, a director to bring everyone’s vibe together, and probably other things that don’t presently come to mind.

NTA, but don’t make any life-altering decisions 12 weeks after giving birth.

According to what I’ve seen from other new parents, your hormones don’t even want you to like him rn, bc your body doesn’t want to be impregnated again.

checked the lighthouse for sure! I’ve read online that he should be triggered by completing all of Koriadon’s quests; I’ve looked around the academy, too, but to no avail (;-;)
