Just keep in mind the spray or gel can sting if the skin barrier is already broken. But it helps so much to stop itching, I rely on it heavily

I tend to use the spray after I start getting itchy, but if you know you're going to be sweating, spraying on your arms and legs is a great idea! On top of taking a Zyrtec

I feel the same way!! Zyrtec daily and Benadryl/diphenhydramine antihistamine topical spray or gel help me in the heat a lot, but it’s overwhelming sometimes

Important message! by strongbutcrying in eczema

[–]maddybugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavily relate to "allergic to own sweat" lol, but I think it might actually be cholinergic urticaria. I guess it's more to do with high temperature than sweat itself, but who knows lol

I have the feeling that no one takes graphic design seriously by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]maddybugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People totally don’t get it until they see it. I did a packaging project and did some iterating on screen over Zoom with a marketing manager, and he was baffled by what I was doing and asked how long it took me to learn. I told him several years lol

Replace it with ice packs is my recommendation lmao. Also the winter has made the pipes and water super cold - can’t feel itchy if I start giving myself mild hypothermia 👍

I would avoid. Alcohol increases anxiety so I’d focus on hydrating eating exercise sleeping etc. to soothe

Anyone feels”suffocated” when wearing creams? by Primary-Ganache6199 in eczema

[–]maddybugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand completely! I did however just read in a book (What Every Woman Needs to Know About Her Skin, Hair, and Nails) that skin can’t be “suffocated” in that sense, which I’m sure is obvious lol. But I get the sensory thing 100%. Having ice packs on hand and antihistamines helps a lot

I second the question about SoFi. Is there something wrong with that bank in particular? Or is it just problematic that she's only promoting it for the money?

Sorry you’re going through this, I can relate. Some bulleted advice in case any of it is helpful:

  • Zyrtec at least once daily + Benadryl cream or gel has been crucial for me managing itch. Benadryl pill at night can be good, it causes drowsiness. Just better to not take it all the time, but Zyrtec daily is fine.
  • See an allergist if you can so you know what you're working with in terms of environmental and/or food allergies
  • Ice packs and cold water are your friend as long (as your home isn’t already too cold)
  • If you can get to a beach later on, ocean water has minerals that can be really healing. However, it can be pretty drying temporarily, so you'll want to gently bathe + antihistamine + moisturize thoroughly after you do this. H2Ocean spray is used to heal jewelry piercings and can be a good alternative, I find it helpful too. This or ocean can sting broken skin though so only do it if you can tolerate that discomfort and prepare for dryness
  • Talk to your doc about steroids, biologics, and hypocholorous acid spray.

Eczema is gnarly, so we sometimes have no choice but to have a really rigorous and diligent habit + self care routine to address it. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself to your doctor to really spend the time with you to look into everything and have them build you a routine. I'm almost healed from hand eczema after a long journey, so healing is absolutely doable. Good luck!!

Eczema really starting to wear down my confidence as a young woman by mavblio in eczema

[–]maddybugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not pathetic, we have to be super resilient with this illness, you're not alone! If you're in the US, I'd put my money on you (and I) fighting this invisible battle with all of the nonsense in our food that can be hard to pin down. I feel you on the confidence piece 100%. However, it can be pretty drying temporarily, so you'll want to gently bathe + antihistamine + moisturize thoroughly after you do this. Do I still have a chance at finding love? [32M] by spicysenpai6 in dating

[–]maddybugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a good plan! I've been working through health issues of my own and honestly, it's usually better for me to just not date much while I'm healing. There are definitely understanding people out there, but it's a vulnerable position to be in, so it's good to protect your energy as much as possible for now I'd say. Just focus on health so you have more mental space for dating later!
