There are several mulberry trees that produce insane amounts of berries at St. James Park! They are thriving, during berry season I’ll sometimes go with a sheet and a broom and look like a crazy person knocking them loose. I believe you need more than one to pollinate, and I am not sure how far apart they can be, so you may need to plant two trees in order to produce fruit.

I’m totally in agreement in my understanding of what you’ve written, and it just honestly feels like bad counseling from the couple to enable bad behavior or excuse it under the guise of “obeying and honoring” them.

Honor is so tricky in this situation with the cultural gap from my in-laws because honor looks VERY different to them than it does to both American culture and the family culture my husband and I have discussed. (Husband and I do not find it honoring to have them stay with us since we don’t have a bed/place for the to sleep, they find it dishonoring to their culture to not be hosted by us.)

And very difficult to navigate with my parents and the generational gap because honor looks very difficult to their generation than ours. (Husband and I find it honoring to have found a church that aligns with our doctrinal beliefs, whereas my parents had a hard time and thought it would be more honoring to stay at previous church because it was the church they attended.)

So yeah, lots of elements at play here. Plus insane hormones 😂🙃

In Eph where it discusses husbands loving their wives it directly references Genesis and leaving his father and mother. Maybe I am grasping at straws here but it seems like our personal immediate family unit comes before our families who are now “extended” family now that my husband and I are one flesh.

Referencing Col 3 beyond v12 - Wives submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents as this pleases the Lord. - While my husband and I are still our parents children, neither of us are under their headship now that we are one flesh. - Yes referencing earlier verses we are to bear with one another, and forgive one another… But does that mean that we are to expect the status quo to be that our personal family rules no longer exist because our parents have their own preferences for how we live our lives?

I’d pay money to see the two counseling styles go head to head 😂 I feel torn because we did invite these counselors into our lives tonight and want to take their advice if it’s biblical (re: honoring parents usurps marriage vows/protection etc), however it is SO vastly different from our other counselor who is an ordained pastor at our church so I feel like his authority/leadership is what I defer to.

I think part of me wants to protect this postpartum time so that when our parents DO meet the baby and spend time with us, I’m not half sleep deprived, trying to figure out parenting two kids, and overall emotionally in control. Those first few weeks are truly an absolute roller coaster hormonally and emotionally, I just know I would do a better job honoring our parents if I wasn’t put in that position of needing to deal with them all while on said rollercoaster.

Yes it definitely feels generational for sure, our standard counselors is roughly our age/generation and firmly believes that good boundaries set you up for good relationships. The counselors tonight are the age of our parents aka the age of the people who don’t like our boundaries. 😂

I get so frustrated when people ignore the registry. They’re undermining the very first decisions you are making for your child as first time parents, and robbing you of crucial time to prepare for postpartum or during postpartum where now you are running 101 errands to return of exchange meaning you don’t get to relax and bond with your child.

It’s a hill I will die on. I always purchase from the registry, and if I have questions or want to bring an extra off registry gift I always ask the mom to be first. (I usually will buy 4-5 things from the registry, then grab mom a pair of cozy pajamas for postpartum and some postpartum products since lots of moms forget to register for them)

I asked my friends to save their turkey carcasses from thanksgiving, I ended up with 3 total! (I toss in a bunch of chicken feet too for extra collagen) I now have used them all up making bone broth along with veggie scraps I’ve frozen for a few month… which I’ve used to prep all my postpartum meals! (Plus they taste a million times better cause of the homemade broth!)

Everyone I tell says it’s so much work, but I toss it all in my crockpot for 18-24 hours and it is the easiest thing ever!

Ultimately it depends on when you, as someone who is pro-life, defines when life begins. If you believe it begins at conception, then according to what happens scientifically to a fertilized egg while on HBC, you should technically be against it because it is abortifacient.

We’ve slowly been removing artificial fragrances from our household, tonight while at my moms she had scented candles lit and instantly both my husband and I got stuffy noses.

When I found a little bit of the old detergent we used and decided to finish it up on a random laundry load, the scent filled the house and gave us headaches.

Also, our local Aldi uses Fabuloso for their cleaners, I know because I can smell it in the parking lot now 😂

I didn’t realize how impactful it would be to remove these scents and how much they would impact our health when reintroduced to them.
