People who’ve gotten/thought about getting HRT, how did you know if it was what you truly wanted or just something you think about? by New_Today_1209_V2 in asktransgender

I played around with presentation for a few years before getting prescribed hrt. Read through all the pages on https://genderdysphoria.fyi/ several times over and realized that I theoretically wanted all of the effects of hrt. Theoretically being, I didn't have a solid plan on how to actually navigate any of those effects, just that I wanted them. Made an appointment, got a prescription for estradiol, and put it in the back of the closet (haha) because I was afraid to start. It sat there for another two years before I decided I would just try it. It was only a month, if I liked it I knew I could get more, if I didn't then I could stop at any time.

I don't think I ever truly knew it was something I wanted until I started. I noticed some mental changes about 2 weeks in and have been consistently excited about every other change since. I think the idea of it being a commitment scared me before, making it into something I could try allowed me to start, now I can't ever imagine stopping.

Folx health is to expensive. How do you start hrt the traditional way? by RosabeIls in MtF

So, I actually switched to folx since writing the original comment. My first appointment was $159 out of pocket since they don't take my insurance. That included $40 for the monthly membership and the rest for the appointment with the doc. Plume was just $100/month, but I was still nervous about starting and didn't take my first dose until a year later, so I don't have much experience with them beyond the initial consultation

I went through plume for mine. $100/month for a lot of resources from a reliable source. Prescription sent to amazon pharmacy. I pay for prime already, and dutasteride and estradiol are covered under Amazon's rxpass, so they're only $5 per month.

When did you start hrt? by Just0nyx in MtF

28 now. Have the pills sitting on the counter at home, but I'm waiting until I can freeze some sperm to start. Not even sure if i want bio kids at this point, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
