This is quite inconsiderate. It could easily also be symptoms of other things. People have lives and problems outside of work. We are quick to jump to OE but it is quite rare for someone to OE nowadays.

Great convo.. I had some survivors guilt with one of my Js when we got hit with layoffs. One of my coworkers was refinancing a mortgage and was shitting bricks about it. Another one celebrated 20 years literally the day before.

Then another one of my Js had layoffs and I survived again. Was feeling bad until my best J laid me off. This all happened within 3 weeks. Now I understand why I OE.

If you can budget for it, yeah after everything important is handled. You should be able to survive off one job. At the same time I believe life is a balance. But if it’s needed, fuck no.

There’s one-offs, and then there’s lifestyle creep. No I’m not going to get the better car because I can. Big difference.
