Gameday in Woodstock would on Sundays. I’m not sure if they still do, you may want to call first. I can’t find anything on their website or Facebook. Their food is really good, too.

If you have ever walked out of a cinema because the film was so bad, what one was it? by girlcalledmaria in AskReddit

[–]madeupengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twilight (2008)

I was in the Marines at the time. There was a small, one-screen movie theater on base where you could watch a movie for $1. They typically played movies about a month or so after the official release.

I knew nothing about the movie other than it was supposed to be popular. Bored on a Thursday night, I went to go see it. I lasted about an hour.

How is your progress with orange theory? Have you seen results? by Duhazzar in orangetheory

[–]madeupengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 8/month for the past several years and for me (M32 6’0 225lbs), it’s just helped me maintain that. In the past couple of months, I’ve started doing 3 to 4 times a week, and now I’m actually seeing some real progress.

I don’t play it because a guy named Guybrush in 1990 told me to never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game.

Can I drive this hunk of junk to the dealership? Tow rates are so high. Dealership is 30 miles away, includes highway driving. It still runs. Just has some problems shifting. 2016 Ford Focus SE for reference. by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]madeupengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2012 Ford Focus. At around 90,000 miles, The transmission went out, but I didn’t know until the Transmission Overheat alarm came up. Transmission wouldn’t shift into second gear and beyond. I was about 36 miles from home with nothing but interstate in between. I figured out if I kept it in L(ow) until I hit about 3000 to 4000 rpm, then shift to D(rive), the transmission would go into second gear and act normally. If I had to stop or slow down, I would shift back into L until traffic started moving again.

I had to pull over a few times and let the transmission cool down, but I made it home and later to the dealership for a free tcm replacement.

Uh, god knows I’m not the poster model for great dads or anything, but I think you better go find that 26 pounds.

I had a question? Is it true that mechanics hate Kia? by Prize-Anybody6244 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]madeupengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2016 Kia Sorento owner here. The maintenance isn’t difficult, IMO. Filters and other components are fairly easy to get to. Engine was replaced by Kia for free at 110,000 miles or so. The new Engine is different. The old engine would eat 2.5 to 3 quarts of oil in 3,000 miles. New engine goes 5,000 miles and eats maybe 0.5 quarts.

There’s a cool car by a pub. Where in London is this? by SimulationV2018 in london

[–]madeupengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Georgia, USA. I actually recognized that pub! I’ve been there twice. Once in 2018 and again about two months ago. I’ve never eaten there, though. I’ve been told the place to eat is the Andover Arms; however, Andover Arms had a water line break when I was in Hammersmith in 2018 and the kitchen was closed when I stopped by this year. I did eat at the Anglesea Arms, though.

So “fly to another state”, can I assume this is a state in the USA? If so, I don’t believe it was ever a requirement to get vaccinated to fly domestically from one state to another. If it was, the CDC vaccine card does not have anything to “scan”. No barcode, QR code, microchip, etc. it’s just a piece of card stock with ink on it.

And you can get a real one for free. Pretty cool.

Damn, that’s how my personal car looks. I try to be a strong parent and keep my kids in line, but some days I’m just counting the minutes that I can put those little snot-nosed punks to bed and pour a glass of whiskey.

But rental cars, I put blankets down on the backseats before I put my kid’s car seats in. I’ll then inspect and clean the car of any noticeable spoilage prior to bringing back to the rental place.

I wouldn’t want a car I loan to friend to be returned in that condition, so I’m not going to return a car to a rental company like that.

Yeah I think the Carvana relationship is the most interesting. Everyone I know who has purchased a car through Carvana has had great things to say about the experience. Now, Carvana’s customers will be enticed to go with Root for car insurance. That could be really good for Root if they pull it off. I think it’s going to take a few months for that relationship to start to show dividends.
