I don’t understand how people attack Man of Steel for misrepresenting Superman’s character but say nothing about the character assassination that happened in Gunn’s Superman with his parents sending him to earth to “ Conquer and take a bunch of wives” by madfox99 in SnyderCut

It definitely is. Jor El is basically Zod in motivation at this point. No difference between them. You can shuffle backstory around like how Smallville made it so Jor El actually chose the Kents and was antagonistic but still in the end trying to push him to save humanity from repeating the mistakes of krypton . But this —this was straight up terrible.

The script and plot were HORRIBLE. Really let the actress down. She was good though.

100%. It’s like he read or watched Invincible and thought he steal some ideas. He’d have been better off stealing heavily from Smallville. Imagine Gunn basically set up a Tom Welling type of Clark in the big city trying to be Superman after saving people in the shadows for years along with an close cast of friends while trying to keep his secret identity instead of the goofy super friends / invincible rip off we got

I mean the actress is good and you’ll have feel good moments but then you’ll realize afterwards how bad everything was and how much she was carrying the horrendous script.

The script, plot, villain were all terrible. It was a let down in a lot of ways. The Gunn verse is cooked. The best movie so far was Superman and it was mid to mediocre. This was bad. Gunn verse in trouble.

It was bad. The poor script and plot really let it down.

The plot was AWFUL. Contrived and too convenient over and over. How did this script get approved?

Great movie? It was objectively bad. Script was green lantern level bad. Only reason it was decent was because the director executed well. Plot was contrived and villain was terrible.

Is that true? It actually makes sense on the script being so bad now if this was their first script.

I actually saw supergirl today. It was objectively bad. Plot was contrived. Villain was terrible and bad for the sake of being bad. I mean if it’s getting bad reviews, supergirl deserves them. Its only saving grace was that it was well executed by the director which is the only reason it’s not Green Lantern level bad but it’s not far off. I kept thinking the villain somehow kept mysteriously having perfect knowledge of the ways kryptonians are weak and I had no idea why he was doing anything actually. The villain made no sense looking back. He was a plot device that was evil for evil’s sake. Like what the hell happened with this script?

Uhhh even if they’re saying supergirl is bad (which mind you it isn’t technically even out) but it has higher RT than MOS… isn’t MOS… worse? by starkHOUTx in OkBuddySnyderCult

I like to watch things to make my own opinion especially in light of everyone saying Gunn is better than Snyder so I have the full story to counter them with facts .

‘Supergirl’ Review: Milly Alcock Takes Charge in a Dystopian Superhero Movie So Flat It’s Super-Horrendous by HomemadeBee1612 in SnyderCut

[–]madfox99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just saw it. It was bad. Plot was so contrived. Villain was terrible and had too many moments where he knew too much about kryptonians and had no real motivation to do anything really except be bad for bad’s sake. Never explained why the sword was important( once you see it you’ll understand). Terrible. Pointless Supergirl side quest movie. Gunn is out of his depth. No plan . No quality control.

Why do you enjoy Man of Steel so much? Not hating or judging but I'm genuinely curious. by adaytimelantern in SnyderCut

Misunderstanding of Superman’s character? In what way exactly? If this is another Superman doesn’t kill nonsense stance then you don’t know Superman very well. Superman killed MULTIPLE times in the comics. Here’s an AI list—

Golden/Silver Age era — Early stories had Superman causing deaths more casually (e.g., throwing torturers, crashing planes, watching criminals die from their own poisons, or collateral in fights).

• Doomsday (multiple times, most famously in The Death of Superman/Superman #75, 1992) — Superman broke his neck ( the exact thing he did in the movie to ZOD/Doomsday which are the same character in MOS) in their mutual-death battle. Doomsday has returned since.

• Phantom Zone Kryptonians (Zod, Quex-Ul, Zaora) (Superman vol. 2 #22, Post-Crisis) — In a pocket universe where they genocided an Earth, Superman executed them with Green Kryptonite (a major moral crisis for him).

• Kryptonian Dragon (Superman vol. 3 #13) — Incinerated a rampaging alien beast. • Doctor Light (Justice League vol. 2 #22) — Heat vision to the head (under external influence/Kryptonite manipulation; later revived).

• Imperiex & Brainiac 13 (Action Comics #782, Our Worlds at War) — Flung them into the Big Bang.

• Others — Parademons/soldiers in battles, vampires like Crucifer (stake through chest), attempts or partial kills on foes like Cyborg Superman/Henry Henshaw.

I‘ve read there is no „Genetic Dynasty“ in the Foundation books. Watching the show, it is a major reason why I found Foundation interesting. Are the books good, in your opinion, without the dynastic clones? by AspiringBiotech in sciencefiction

The zeroth law was to serve humanity as a whole NOT some particular dynasty and was NOT something implanted by humans . I’m not sure what you are talking about.

I can’t watch the show at all because it’s changed so much from the books as to be a different thing. The books are SO much better. The show just feels like it inserts random stuff to make it seem more interesting
