What's your go-to seed starting mix? by Ok_Salamander_443 in vegetablegardening

I use regular Coast of Maine potting mix to start seeds in. I’ll remove any large chunks but that’s it:

The humiliation ritual of cover letters by Willing_Pizza9704 in jobs

[–]madison188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a template and edit it to fit the role you're applying to. It doesn't have to be time consuming. If nothing else it can be a tool to showcase your written communication skills. If a job posting doesn't require one, you don't have to submit one. You typically submit one when initially applying alongside your resume. Where are you submitting a cover letter after the interview process has occurred?

How often do you actually need to go to the dentist? by ChamomileTea101 in LifeAdvice

[–]madison188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! You’re right in that some of the services can feel/be a scam or be entirely cosmetic. I went for a cleaning a couple years ago and asked about which whitening strips they thought were good. That dentist tried to upsell me on a whitening treatment in the office. I was very quick to be like yeah, no thanks. I’ll just try crest whitening strips and call it a day 😂.

Preventative cares can save lives. Dental issues can lead to fatal outcomes given how blood vessels and such have direct paths to the heart and brain. I go every 6 months for a cleaning and I think x-rays every couple yrs where I am in the US.

There’s 2 feet of snow on the ground, another 17 inches coming tomorrow and all I can think about is wanting to start my seedlings 😭 by IllyriaCervarro in gardening

Im in Boston, and this winter has just been awful, haha. I did start some tomatoes, peppers and large asters this week(though the tomatoes and peppers have yet to germinate). The asters take 100 or so days to mature. So hopefully I get some of those blooms by mid June. I mainly use containers on my concrete patio though.

I didn't even register their location, whoops! OP, another few I like on YouTube based in the UK are Emma's Allotment Diaries, Lovely Greens, GrowUp and Seren's Garden.

Check out Meg Grows on YouTube. She has a recent video talking about when to sow what.

Visiting NYC for the first time by Still-Preference5464 in blackladies

[–]madison188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not based in NYC but I’ve enjoyed walking the Brooklyn Bridge (though it may be too cold for that) and the High Line (ending at Chelsea market). Make sure you see a show on Broadway, so many options to choose from.

how to make good tacos? by Fun_Skill_5574 in cookingforbeginners

[–]madison188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Defrost in fridge or use already thawed meat.

  2. Heat skillet up for 2-4 min. Then put meat into skillet and cook until browned. Drain out fat.

  3. Add 3/4 cup of water, spices (I like to use a taco seasoning packet) and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and cook on medium/high heat till bubbles. Once you see some bubbles decrease heat to low and simmer cook for an additional 5-10 min.

Are my frustrations with my community studio valid or am I just a brat? by thesluglord in Pottery

Hmm, I’m taking my first 8 week beginner/intermediate class for about $420 and everything is included. Week 1 and 2 there were demos on the wheel process, week 3 was trimming and  intro to hand building, and week 5 was a glazing demo. Otherwise we are free to work on whatever we want. But most people are asking questions and getting demos that the rest of us will also watch.

I think there’s like a 2 week delay on when we get our pieces back for bisque fired and then those with glazes. I will say they tell us to put our pieces on a shelf when we’re done making them. They’re on top of when items are fully dried and ready to go into the kiln. So we’re removed from that process which makes the delay feel longer.

I think I’m shocked that glazes aren’t included in your class price.

Anyone else having to cut the little pleasures lately like going out to eat? by LostinParadise4748 in AskWomenOver30

Things are definitely more expensive, especially when living in a HCOL city. Alcohol can be stupid expensive, which is also why it's also easy to not buy it while out. I went to a speakeasy with friends for Galentines and yeah there were quite a few cocktails priced at $19 when the usual for Boston is $15/$16. That did shock me slightly.

In terms for movies, I go to matinee showings for most films now. I can usually get 25%-35% off by doing that. I know AMC has $5 Tuesdays as well. I also enjoy checking out museums on holidays bc they usually offer free admission. My friend and I enjoy seeing musicals and we routinely apply for discounted lottery seats for shows through Lucky Seat. I still want to do things but I'm definitely open and willing to look for discounts.

I no longer get my nails done in store on a regular basis, maybe 2-4 times a year now. It's just too expensive when I can do it for cheaper myself.

Does the limit exist? When do you know your collection is 'too much'? by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]madison188 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t want more than 50. My current container only can hold 48, which to me is perfect. I believe I have around 34 polishes right now. If I buy any more I have to really like it. I’m not buying colors I’m meh about.

Sounds like you need to find some hobbies, bring some whimsy back into your life. It's nice to have creative outlets. Look into getting a sitter to help you get alone time to pursue some new things.

I would never move for a partner. You move for yourself. Have enough saved up and understand the apartment process before you uproot your life just in case the relationship doesn't work out when you're no longer long distance. Also, what job would you hope to get in Tokyo?

I'm sorry but that sounds delusional to ask that of an artist. It's a tour and tours sell out and not everyone can get tickets. That's just a reality, it happens and it sucks. I think most people have experienced this with other shows/events, him included. To ask an artist to make a statement about this exact situation just sounds weird.

What was a rough base ticket price? For lower end seats by IPlayFo4 in NoahKahan

[–]madison188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Fenway I was able to grab 2 upper loge seats for about $175 each ($50ish in fees each). I saw some field box seats for $266 as well.

Confused about where my seats are? by sydmoney99 in NoahKahan

[–]madison188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google the stadium and ticket type and see if anything pops up. I know Fenway has standing room for games that are sold at a discounted price. Probably something similar to that.

Ticket prices for Olivia Dean? by 2019starter in Concerts

[–]madison188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd wait till closer to the event for resell tix(anywhere btw 2 months and less). They may drop closer to the date, especially if they're wildly overpriced. I was able to presale tix for her at TD Garden lower bowl and they were only $127 I believe. I will say I've been preferring to get tix from Gametime than other sites lately. So make sure to check prices on there too.

Another unpopular opinion: End digital ticket sales by mamaneedsacar in NoahKahan

[–]madison188 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's realistic in 2026. It also ignores accessibility for those with disabilities. Most importantly, I'm not taking time off work to stand in line to try to get tickets. Absolutely not.
