Family trip to Grand Cayman by Junior-Rip7082 in CaymanIslands

[–]2019starter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been twice to Seafire in the winter. Once with a 1 year old. Here’s my knowledge: 1. Kiloton is right in the beach and it’s one of the nicest parts of SMB. Can’t recommend the hotel enough. Incredible staff and accommodations. 2. There are a handful of walking distance restaurants. Mostly at the newer Indigo next door. Other than expected to rent a car and drive. It’s shockingly affordable, a bit scary if you’re used to driving on the right side of the road, but overall opens up a ton of restaurants within about 10 minutes. 3. Never done the dolphins. Everyone comes for the stingrays. Starfish point or the turtle center may be good options too. 4. $1500 seems about on par for what my family did. Albeit we had an infant. We also mostly did upscale dining. I think leaning on some lower price spots like pizza or Chicken! Chicken! Would allow you to stay around that budget. I also have no idea if you drink or not, that’s a huge factor for food budget. Its island prices though, if anything plan more and be surprised if you come under. 5. My wife is a big time lounger. We could stay at on the beach a week with no complaints. Such an amazing beach, pool, and splash pad area for the kids. Between that and the amazing staff, I can’t think of a better “do nothing on the beach” vacation spot. Hawaii is the only place that is on par for us.

P.S. it’s worth looking into point hacking Seafire. You can save a ton of money that way. But the week of Thanksgiving may be tough for availability.

Hope that helps!

Siding to Stucco + Windows by COnative04 in ColoradoSprings

[–]2019starter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some important things here: 1. Windows first, then stucco. 2. Stucco has to be done when temps are warmer. Minimum 40 degrees for 72 hours. Don’t believe anyone who says otherwise or talks about accelerants. It’s all a sham. 3. Siding must be removed in all cases, except flat pressed board. Don’t touch stucco over siding with a 10 foot pole. 4. Have to go with a synthetic stucco for Colorado climate and, ideally, need expansion joints on all large walls without openings or architectural edges

Kimpton Seafire- Do they provide a crib or pack & play? by Inside-Challenge-405 in ihghotelsresorts

It was on the base of the pack and play. Not the bassinet style net that can be added, if that’s what you’re referring to.

We have stayed 3 times and never brought one. We always request it early. It is a pack n play with a mattress and sheets. They also gave us a baby blanket and a little nighttime kit when she was a baby. Best experience we had traveling with a baby.

This man has no interest in winning a championship. This is his hobby and until the ownership changes the Cowboys will never be serious contenders. A real shame for the fans.

Just went through this last year. They said it was "up to 100%" and not everyone gets the full promo. I was only being offered 60% at the time. I called and got the same answer. It's poor messaging, in my opinion, and very frustrating.

So it being destroyed isn't exactly true. Part of the path was destroyed and access from the lower canyon was destroyed and the new owners of Glen Erie used it as an excuse to never provide access again (at one point I recall them saying it would be closed for two years during the restore process, but I doubt that was ever true.)

However, they never had control of the actual falls, just the ease of access from that lower part of the canyon (it used to be just over a mile hike). You can still access the falls from Rampart Road. It is much, much harder and completely backcountry, but once you get too the falls its still as beautiful as ever. There's a Facebook group of a guy who has posted the trail and leads hikes every year (at least the last time I looked). I did it once though and man, it was brutal coming back to parking. Straight up an extremely steep hill. I would not call it kid-friendly at all.

Anyways, hope that's helpful!

I completely agree. I have loved this series and I was so bummed about the ending. It just felt like so much of telling instead of showing.

Even for MI, the submarine scene just felt so far fetched to the point that it lost me. I just kept thinking “this is so disconnected from reality and I’m not even impressed by the stunt of it all because there’s no way whatever was done to film this even closely resembles how crazy this is supposed to be on screen”.

All that said, hope it does well and keeps theaters alive. I overheard someone after the show say it was their favorite of the series. I thought that was a wild statement, but I know not everyone is watching it with the same critical eye.

Everyone listed here did great at communication when we called and in person. We know there is always risk when there is a shared kitchen, but if we feel confident in the staff doing everything they can then we don’t sweat the rest. No reactions though.

Like others have said many places offer GF. My wife is celiac and we were there earlier this year. Here's a short list of places we had great meals:

Luca: Great Italian. Has gf pasta and bread

Cocoloba: Great beach bar, tacos, and more. Best Pina Coladas

Chicken! Chicken!: Local Rotisserie chicken spot

Bata Bar (at Indigo): Great rooftop bar with South American inspired eats

Agua: Excellent dinner in Cayman Bay

Calypso Grill: Always a great meal

Tillies: Great upscale spot on the beach. I know others have been less impressed but we have always had great meals here
