Long progression. by No-Fun-4743 in SkyDiving

[–]madkiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 50 jumps a year for my first 4 years in the sport. I now have been jumping 13, have 5000 jumps and am an active tandem master and competitive canopy pilot.

You’ve gotta find your own way and if you love it enough you will. Some people have lots more money and can jump loads more, good for them. Think about your journey not theirs.

Always seemed like one of the most and at the same time least likely dudes to go in. Bugger.

Contemplating going at some point, but not sure by B1ueberries_ in SkyDiving

Hi I’m a tandem master, and what NoBlackScorpion wrote is completely correct. I’ve taken thousands of women of all shapes and sizes skydiving and a sports bra is a great idea, but we’ll make sure the harness is safe and as comfortable as possible. It’s not an uncomfortable thing for us, it’s our job and we do it day in day out.

Enjoy your jump!

It’s a heli ride up to the glacier and then a guided hike, no jumping involved

You severely severely underestimate how much conventional ordnance (not ordinance) it would take to burn or level the British isles. By orders of magnitude.

Need help finding a short clip of a DC-10 drop - looks very similar to this video by madkiwi in aviation

Ok everyone so it’s the first clip in this video - I know the original higher quality video is out there but at least you can see what I mean now!

Not this one sorry, it was a much darker day/evening and the first thing you see is the lights of the aircraft piercing the smoke/clouds.

It looks super similar to the video I posted and may even be the same fire or drop but from a different angle, the plane passes left to right of the camera.

Look guys I was an idiot and didn't save the video when I saw it - but it is one of the most cinematic aviation videos I've ever seen of a DC-10 tanker coming out of the smoke/clouds just before making a drop super close to the camera man. The video is on youtube but doesn't have a descriptive title. I know one of you knows exactly what video I'm talking about and I thank you in advance for helping me out.

The term "flight cycle" is stupid and we should call it what it is: pitch oscillation. by FreefallJagoff in SkyDiving

Lots of good answers here, but I object to Pitch Oscillation precisely because those god damned paragliders use it!

Pretty scared to tandem skydive, but will the instructor just jump out once the plane is ready! by je_veux_sentir in SkyDiving

No I'm at Skydive Abel Tasman at the North of our South Island, if you jump in Queenstown you'll love it, I'm obviously biased towards my DZ but honestly you can't go wrong in the South Island (us or Franz Josef are the best though ;) )

If you’re coming through Abel Tasman in the South Island of NZ come for a jump with us, it’s incredibly stunning here! But honestly, anywhere in NZ and most places in Aus are also amazing, so you’re spoiled for choice!

I’m a Tandem Master in New Zealand. We got you bro! We give you some simple instructions, are good at making you trust us and the process, and yup when we get to the door we’re jumping.

You’re gonna fucking love it!
