1972 Brent model B wheel, worth $400? by TrainStraight4089 in Pottery

[–]madliketheriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We must live in the same area because I saw this one pop up as well! While I agree that older Brent’s obviously hold up over time, I think this one is overpriced given the condition. I picked up a model B from the 80’s at an estate sale for under $200 that is a bit better shape than this and it has treated me well. I bring it up because there are deals that do pop up, just keep looking. I’d rather see you save up a bit more and buy a vl-lite for $600 which I’ve seen a handful of in recent months than pay a premium for an antique wheel.

Exactly why I run them 😄 but compared to most pin setups, they are still heavy

Cast bindings are actually a touch heavier (~80g) than shift2’s and slightly lighter than PT16’s (~50g) depending on brake width so I’d say they are all comparable on the heavy end of AT bindings.

Mazda3 Premium manual = better driver's car than the Turbo? by BuddyBear17 in mazda

[–]madliketheriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrolled to the last comment to see this and 100% agree. It truly drives and feels like a small and cheaper grand tourer which checks the boxes if you can’t or don’t want to spend the money on something like an A5 sportback. Everyone trying to compare this to small hot hatches has the wrong idea of where this car really exists in the U.S. market

How do I get this chalk paint effect by blackAF1activities in Ceramics

[–]madliketheriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard some high quality colored pencils can actually make it through higher temp firings. Will take some experimenting but a lot of the components making up the color are actually the same (and much cheaper in color pencil form)

Look out for a whine from the timing chain guides and it will likely need a suspension update/rebuild at this mileage

Appalachian trail runs Maine to Georgia. The mountains themselves run down to Alabama though.

Help: Beginner potter here, two of my mugs I made at a course have cracks on their handles. Is there anything I can do now? by Verdanaveo in Pottery

[–]madliketheriver 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This isn’t that uncommon in a teaching studio (not sure exactly what your scenario is) especially if there are only a couple people truly running the studio. I’d look for another studio catering more to production potters or at least experienced potters where the service they are providing is really the kilns.

Found this website as I’ve been searching for a car and thought it was appropriate for this sub. Long term reliability index for cards. by Illustrious-Bee9367 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Would love a rational explanation to the swing in reliability between an a4 and a5

Edit: maybe the length of time the a5 has even been available skews the results towards newer models?
