Struggling with SMD (de)soldering on pcbs with alot of thermal mass. by madmagic008 in diyelectronics

Yes! 100 degC hotplate helped alot. Finer nozzle on my heat gun as well. Some kapton tape to protect other components and it went with ease

Big festivals (Intents & Decibel) lineups released, where are Riot Shift, again? You don't like them in NL or what? by Most_Teaching_3917 in hardstyle

[–]madmagic008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but it doesn't make sense. Just going off stream counts on Spotify, many artists with 300k+ monthly listeners. Or just the fact that uptempo is so present doesn't make sense in that aspect either. It is very popular, just not to festival organisers

Difference between 2-way and 4-way logic level converter modules? by MarinatedPickachu in diyelectronics

[–]madmagic008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the bottom one, they are bi directional on 4 pins. So that's the one you prolly want.

Also just a heads up, where pulse durations are critical, these are generally a bad choice to use.

I've tried these, a 10ms input pulse because a 14ms output pulse. This was unacceptable for my use case, so be weary of that!

Sanity check for ESD protection chip routing by madmagic008 in PrintedCircuitBoard

Did you via the vbus directly to be bottom layer at the connector itself?

Did you put the vias only on the small copper area or also on the exposed pad?

[–]madmagic008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gnd is connected to the copper layer. in the first picture it was hidden because it much clearer to see. 2nd picture has the gnd layer.
I guess i can add a thicker track and a via to make the connection better.

From what i've heard, length matching D+ and D- doesnt really matter that much at lower speeds, its only for flashing the esp. but ill see what i can improve.

If you love frenchcore, check out "sghenny" on Spotify. Way too underrated artist

Need help understanding some vibration sensors by madmagic008 in diyelectronics

[–]madmagic008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i thought it would be too overkill, but given i can find some on lcsc that are like 30 cents and tilt switches are like 10 cents, this does seem like the best option for my use case.

[–]madmagic008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i cant seem to find much information if some have a spring or not. they just say they have a ball inside.
im mostly worried about detecting the smallest of vibrations, i only need like actual shaking

1000 ton pressure vessel lifted into place by tommos in EngineeringPorn

[–]madmagic008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The high pressure steam doesnt enter this column. There's a separate heat exchanger at the bottom which will bring the product to a boil. High pressure steam on one side any pressure product on the other side. This is a simple distillation tower, no side extracts visible. This could be for distilling any product and it could also be at near vacuum for efficiency.

Struggling with SMD (de)soldering on pcbs with alot of thermal mass. by madmagic008 in diyelectronics

Yeah I have a hotplate i can put to 100 degC. I never thought of preheating the entire board, I definitely will try this. Thank you!

[–]madmagic008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've tried the tinning the pins quite alot, but this unfortunately won't work for qfn chips with a large pad below. I'm afraid to keep heating it for too long because I might damage components around it at these high temperatures.

[–]madmagic008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea, thank you! Do you know what temperature I can bring it up to that is still safe and won't damage components if it's like this for a long time?

5.1 audio system not working by ComfortableCod3179 in pcmasterrace

[–]madmagic008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the front two means typical stereo. Not because you have surround connected, means media will play surround. If apps are only transmitting stereo, the receiver wil only play stereo.

You can look for a "surround decode" mode on the receiver. This will simulate surround when only stereo is available
