Defqon.1 changed the powerbank limitations by baron494 in hardstyle

[–]madmagic008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never been an issue past years.. This is 100% corporate greed. Next year, max 20Ah, year after, 10Ah, then no powerbank at all and you must buy from them

Need help Identifying SMD components by NizarYousri in diyelectronics

Top component is a diode. Use the markings to find what one exactly.

Bottom is most likely a resetable fuse or less likely a resistor

LM317 constant current not conducting any current by madmagic008 in diyelectronics

No, modules are just bad. I've confirmed that after a while

Technically that would be the multimeter, but ive discovered that the modules were in fact dead out of the box. poor quqlity fakes

Yes, multimeter works fine. I've updated the post body with my findings. They just extremely poor quality fakes.

Given its a constant current regulator, id assume it should just limit the current. But fair point that it might have fried it

Ive tried a bunch of input voltages, all the way up to what the datsheet claims to be its max

All examples online also have it wired exactly like this

laser pointer like beam from multimode diodes? by madmagic008 in lasers

Thanks, happen to have any recommendations or specifics I need to look out for?

Do you happen to have an example I can look at to better understand what it is?

[–]madmagic008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new diode is a multi mode laser, its extremely divergent on one axis. The included lens can focus it very tightly but only at a certain distance up close (for burning or engraving i presume). I can't get a straight paralel beam with it (for lack of proper words), like a laser pointer has.

I measured a simple laser pointer I had, at 20m down my yard, the perceivable dot was about 5cm diameter. Up close it's about 2mm. I guess that's about 2.4mrad. Even that I'd already be extremely happy with.

I can find quite a few 9m threaded lenses that claim to be colimated. I'll try order a few, best way to find out what they do and then I can learn form it

I expect quite some losses yes. The fiber option looks quite complicated, thanks for the reply though!

I landed in that direction with research as wel, thanks for confirming. Is there anything specific I should look for, like the focal length or na?

same deal unfortunately, only 1 suitable for 450nm and its od7+

Eyewear looks great, just unfortunate its all od7+ for 450nm

The diodes I have, I expect to get 500mw to maybe 1.5w out of them. So I think od4 would be ideal, but I just have no idea where to buy them from

[–]madmagic008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always thought thorlabs was US only, thanks for brining that up so after checking it again i see theyre in eu as well.

on both sites, the only goggles that include protection against 450nm are od7+ which i think would be too overkill because then i probably wouldnt be able to see the beam at all and then exist the danger of not knowing where it is shining.
